Without Captain Troy on the pitc and new manager been in post 4 days expectations should be adjusted (like I said I was pessimistic so only wanted a 4-1 win), now after the break after a couple of weeks with squad training and motivation I think we should start firing on close to all cylinders, P2 and still unbeaten Mr Mc.......
McKinlay said he was pretty happy with the performance which is his fair opinion but personally felt we could have done more in attack and allowed Brighton to come onto us after we scored. Vydra did look lost and the formation wasn't helping our midfield. Defence was fairly solid. Suppose a point is better than nothing but felt we just could have had more - certainly Anya and Dyer didn't really get into the game.
sounds like i didn't miss much...but i've heard we should have done a lot better. Early days and we're still up there, lordy knows how. All i can think is that this is a poor league this year as i'm struggling to think of a game where we've played really well this season! Ah well, a break now and hopefully we can get some team cohesion going on!
Strange one this. Never really got fully going. Paredes got MOM and without anyone excelling that was a fair choice. Tozser was the only other candidate as everything went through him. I felt like nothing was falling for us in and around the area but maybe that's just not having Deeney - need him back. Some strange positions I thought - Hoban playing very wide when I wouldn't have thought of him as a wide man at all. Abdi playing the second striker at times in the first half. Some better moves when McGugan came on. As highlighted on the FLS, Munari really let his player going giving a free header for their goal. 1-1 seemed about right, certainly no performance to set the world on fire - a great view from the upper GT though if a little flat in atmosphere! (but the whole ground was a bit flat). Special mention to Gomes, Hoban and Tozser for applauding all round the pitch at the end when all others had gone... Oh, and getting to the ring road from the M1, round it, and up to the top of Church Car Park took an age, about 45 mins!
Can't think of too much to say really. Doyley was my MotM, Hoban struggled (again) and it was all a bit...average. Still, not playing well and second in the league. Can't be bad.
I was very unimpressed and have to say have been most the season. If it is just that Deeney is out - then thats worrying too. Vydra is lost too many times, he doesn't use his pace to any great effect. Abdi too is capable but not always at the races. I feel a lot of our 'stars' needs a good kick up the jacksey cos a lot of them just aren't doing it. If we are serious title contenders then we need to be getting more than a draw against Brighton and Bournemouth at home. In my view we lack the killer instinct up front and the control of the mid field. 11 games in and we are second which is fine but I think that reflects others around us rather then how good (or otherwise) we are. Lets face it if we did go up and played in the Premiership like we did yesterday or like we did against Bournemouth then we'd be pointless and heading downwards very rapidly indeed. I do believe we have a good squad but we need to get going and as yet we haven't.

Well true - we did lose our way after they scored. Whereas our subs were pretty ineffective. I see Forest are losing at home - typical Championship!
We had half a first choice side out, a new manager plate spinning, no captain, a lack of form... And we are still all but top of the league. When we get our boys fit and back from suspension, Billy gets his tactics right, and it does finally click...
New formation, new head coach and quite a few players out... it's no real wonder it was a bit of a disjointed performance. I think the highlights show just how few chances there were. Other than a save from Vydra, i think the goals were the only shots on target. Once again, we get into the lead then sit back and allow pressure. A frustrating performance, but we are still up at the top and haven't really got going yet.... Hopefully with a 2 week break, Billy can work with a lot of the players, and get them playing better, buit not sure we really have the team to play the 4-2-3-1. With Pudil out, we didn't really have cover for LB - Hoban looked quite lost at times. I was glad to see murray come on at the RW position, but he didn't play too well after comiong on either - but maybe that will come with time, once he is used to back in that role after trying to become a CM. With Deeney, Vydra and Forestieri, we really should be playing two up top though. Think Vydra needs to play off another striker. I know we have players out, but we really did build a squad around the 3-5-2 formation
i agree with kev 100% and i have great news for everyone brighton was my last game till march lol . and we know that we can play a lot beter than the games i have seen ie. chalton, blackburn, bournemouth brentford, brighton 6 pts from 15 not good see you again in march
6 from 15, as Brian says, is not good. Thankfully those around us are not doing any better; but, and this is a big but, none of the teams' form is consistantly good. We are all generally avoiding defeat, but there is no team winning well and winning cosistantly.
