GK - Kiely
LB - Hreidarsson (though Wiggins in League 1 was class)
CB - Chris Perry
CB - Daily
RB - Solly
LM - Robinson
CM - Jensen
CM - Parker
RM - Di Canio
CF - Bent (Not Marcus)
CF - Kermorgant

Actually a lot harder than I realised; based purely on those I've seen regularly since 2003. Those that I'd seen before that would be mostly influenced by outside opinion (other than Robbo!)

It pains me to leave out the likes of Solly, Powell, Brown, Parker and Webster. We've had some fine players down the years and, personally, I've enjoyed watching them all - even the poopy ones.

CC - you really did have had a job picking an eleven, eh? Bouazza!

Dick P - did you really get to see Eddie Firmani? Great stuff.

Yes I saw Eddie Firmani a number of times. My Dad first took me when I was six in 1960. I fell in love with the Club and the Valley straightaway away. Firmani was the best player I have seen in my fifty four years of supporting the club. Can I change one of my players from Peter Reeves to Richard Rufus?

Kiely
Young - Rufus - Elliott (cheating there) - Powell (tempted by Rowett as thought he was immense and injury prevented him becoming a hero)
Bowyer - Parker - Kinsella
Di Canio
Bent - Mendonca

Aside from Elliot, that is a fine team.

Not many mentions for Shaun Newton. His winner in the play-off 2nd leg was a scorcher and sent The Valley into delirium.

Gary Rowett was a big favourite of mine. A truly cultured CB who had a great future ahead of him before injury finished him. Also loved Eddie Youds. He was an absolute monster...!!

We've lost our fair share of players to injury over the years.

Gary Rowett
Matty Holmes
Andy Hunt
Richard Rufus
Martin Pringle
Super Clive

Are the ones that immediately spring to mind. There must be others...?

The other player thats not been mentioned in many peoples best elevens... Andy Reid. He was mustard.

Keily
Humphrey
Rufus
Costa
Reid (of course! - deffo the penalty taker)
Lee
Parker
Jensen
Di Canio
Siemonsen
Killer

Subs:
Kishichev
Boulder
Bent
Elliott

There is only three from my favourite team in there - Humphrey, Reid and Boulder. That would be the hastily cobbled together Lennie Lawrence team of 84/85 that got us promotion to the top flight and in so doing almost cerrtainly saved the club. Thomson, Pender, Pearson, Aizlewood, Gritt et al - we all owe them a huge debt of gratitude.

Seeing Allan Simonsen must have been something. I can't imagine that sort of deal happening these days. The nearest thing to it is probably Agger going back to Brondby in his prime and Bellamy dropping down to the Championship to help his boyhood club (though I am nowhere near suggesting they are/were on par with Simonsen).

Andy Reid was quality, but he never got going in the Premiership due to injuries and the board cashed in when he was influential in the Championship.

I think I put les berry in my worst ever team or he may of just missed the cut he was awful but funny with it I remember his testimonial v arsenal at the valley

As I remember it , the further he hoofed it the bigger the cheer he got?
This is a team of 11 players who were not necessarily the best, but who I enjoyed watching-

Tutt;
Solly; Rufus; Costa; Chris Powell;
Colin Powell; Parker; Jensen;
Paul Walsh; Hales; Mendonca.

Simonsen was a top class player, Super. Sadly putting him in our side at that time was a bit like placing an oyster alongside 10 greasy oven chips.

Love it <ok>..my all time favourite team was the Lennie 85-86 promotion winning side, can just see Lennie now perched on the player's shoulders at Carlisle with his bobble hat on.

Shipley
Gritt
Lee
Stuart
Pearson
