Momentum is important. We have one win for the season and a loss to Palace would be more points gifted to a rival. Before long momentum can slip away and you can end up in a spiral downwards. Last season we were never really in danger of relegation so the pressure was never really on and the players were able to perform. Look at that compared to a Fulham or Sunderland who were constantly under pressure each week.
That's what I will be having on Saturday night prior to the midnight TV kick-off. Fish and chips will be supplemented by home made Patties and mushy peas together with a pot of Yorkshire tea. All frying done in lard of course!
When the fixture lists were published I'm pretty sure every City fan licked their lips at what on paper was a fairly 'easy' looking first 7 games (apart from Citeh). We haven't taken advantage of that and after this coming Saturday will start on a run of difficult fixtures so although it is obviously not yet a MUST WIN game, we really do need to get our second win under our belts.
We have 6 points, if we win we go up into the top half. We've got one win and three draws, losing twice. A win would be nice, but I'd be happy with a point against a team we perrenially struggle against.
The team need a win more than anything. We're giving up winning positions too often so it would do their confidence the world of good. Sb mentioned 352 again this week so I'm thinking we might see a return of that; McG Chester Dawson Davies Elmo Thudd Livermore Diame Robertson Jelly Abel
I'd really like to see this come back. I know that this can be seen more defensive, but this formation is where City always looked the stronger to me. It allows the like of Ramirez, Ben Arfa and Aluko to come on in midfield and not really alter the strength or formation. Elmo and Robertson can show their pace and really get behind Palace. It is a shame for Rosie and Quinny who are great players, but i think we need to go back to this and really take Palace on! We never really turned up against Palace last year (at home) and was poor goal to concede (if memory serves). We are stronger now, just maybe missing the 'gelling' that the team had last year with the new signings.
352 would be good for my fantasy football team, I still have Chester and can't 'waste' a transfer taking him out yet. In the real world, I'd like to stay with the back four: -------------- McGregor Rosenior - Dawson - Davies - Robertson -------- Huddlestone - Diame - Hernandez --- Ben Arfa ---- Ramirez --------------- Jelavic It's one of the 'favourable' home games of the season, let's get at them from the start with our attacking assets together. Ben Arfa should be good to start after the 90 mins against West Brom last week and Ramirez should've had time now - we can always switch Brady in for him ~60 minutes if tiring.
Personally, I would like to see a team similar to yours however, hearing SB this week I have an inkling he will opt for 352 again soon if not on Saturday. A front four of Hernandez, Ben Arfa, Ramirez and Jelavic should be frightening.
I'm surprised they haven't collected to have a statue of Alan Mullery at the ground. They owe a massive debt to Alan do Palace fans.
Some fans seem to think we're a Top 10 team. We're not until we proved it. There are no guarantees even with quality players because you have to fight for points and palace do that. Palace are a very tricky opponent and they are always wrongly underrated
Is that true? Not seen anything published, however, not questioning you just looking for the source of your statement.
yep, theres also a premierleague clause for 2 years time if we're still a pl team, cant say source though
I'll enjoy my fish and chips on friday and enjoy beating Palace on saturday . I do like Damien Delaney though and am genuinely pleased to see him playing at this level at 33
Yeh I'm tired of Livermore right now. I'd rather not see him and Huddlestone together for a while. Drop one of them so we can try things another way.
