Absolute megalomaniac.

No wonder Pulis steered clear.

Sky should be ashamed of themselves....they had an opportunity to ask some 'proper' questions & instead just gave Tan a soapbox & allowed him to spout all this nonsense in an attempt to put him in a better light......which he failes to do anyway.
 
and without Mr Tan where would we be. Probably bust and in the conference playing in front of a few thousands. I am sick of people constantly slagging him off. We are all entitled to our opinions but it is getting tiresome. Give the bloke a break.
 
The Tan haters have conveniently forgotten the fact we were absolutely financially f**ed before Tan started bankrolling us.

Anyone who thinks MM deserves more credit than Tan's cheque book for promotion is deluded and doesn't understand the modern game at all. I understand you need a manager who knows how to spend the money too. MM proved himself limited to Championship level when it came to spending as his PL signings were one expensive disaster after another.

How does anyone know Pulis steered clear btw? From the outside it appears Slade was very much above him on our list (whether that's the right or wrong decision we will soon find out).

So what separated us from the skint Watford team he couldn't get to the playoffs that ran out of steam every February? The largest budget in the division by an absolute ****ing the mile the year we went up that was the difference.
Nigel Pearson and Steve Bruce have both shown what we could have had if that money (and the PL money) had been used well.
 
And exactly how well have we done since Malky kept us outside bottom three in the PL?

Not that I understand anything about the modern game.

Ahh the last defence from the MM supporters. As we've all been over many times, we'd been found out and were well and truly on the slide. That's obviously just my opinion based on watching us home and most away games. His results from April to when he was sacked offer little defence either.

The deluded and modern game comment relates to the fact we could have had any number of managers that could have spent a huge budget and got us promoted. However right now we do not have a queue of billionaire owners waiting to spunk loads of their own money on keeping us a) afloat b) as one of the most powerful sides in the championship.

If Slade doesn't get us promoted, next season will be interesting as I think Tan might stop spending as much (relating to the comments about next seasons budget requiring promotion). If he stops bankrolling the club at current levels and we're still in red (which is pretty much certain) then he'll have a full scale revolt on his hands.
We fans can then get on with tearing the club to pieces as a percentage seem intent on doing. We can fulfil the ambitions of a certain section, get rid of Tan, go into admin tumble down the leagues and who knows maybe the new regime will bring back MM back? Surely then a swift return back up the leagues to the PL will follow.

Look at Kenwynne last year.......absolute crap, but he was actually given a chance & eventually came good.

Cornelius had under an hour to prove himself (straight after a long term injury). If my memory serves me he actually contributed to
a goal (Gunnar?????...my memory ain't what it should be). He might have turned out to be OK or he might have turned out to be rubbish,
but we'll never know. The lad turned out to be a waste of money, but not entirely his fault in my opinion. If Malky was guilty of
overpaying then Tan was equally negligent in getting rid to prove a point, when we desperate for strikers (I assume OGS had little or no
input).

I'll agree (look our you've started me agreeing with you now too <laugh>) the money lost almost made him worth keeping just in case, what was frustrating was we got rid of Rudy who did a great job against Liverpool (only PL opponents he ever faced) and is playing/scoring well for Blackburn as he was apparently surplus due to Cornelius.

I did back KWJ to succeed this year, it's all about motivation, he needs a good season to get another contract.
 
The thing is on the face of it the Cornelius deal looked like an absolute rip off, i remember commenting on here that it could cost MM his job, and was proven correct. A few months prior to us buying him for millions Leicester had offer 500k. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out the whole deal stunk to high heaven, and for that reason, it didnt matter how good or bad a player Cornelius is. If i were the owner i would have sacked MM also. The vast majority of the posters on here cannot defend MM anymore no matter how much it sticks in their throats. On his budget the year we went up any number of managers would have got us there, the precursor to what to expect in the PL was the final 6 games in our promotion winning season, it was infact relegation form. Bye Bye MM please dont darken our doorstep ever again.

I think we've all got that you'd have him back but I do believe you're in a very small minority since the latest revelations. <ok>
Something that would have been interesting from a debate point of view would have been MM's next job. Problem is I'm not sure he'll get one as he blatantly can't clear his name and these sort of allegations stick hard. I think there's a fair chance he's ended his career in football totally. Maybe a backroom roll somewhere in a couple of seasons?
 
Tan is banging on about the money he has poured into the club... Has he actually given you anything or isit still in the form of a loan? Last I heard he was still yet to convert it to equity. Sorry if I am wrong but that was the impression I was under.

None of us really know tbh. What is certain is that the money has been spent and without a return and stay in the PL Tan can kiss that goodbye.

If he was interested in getting back his 'loans' quickly he surely would have had a fire sale type clear out, pocketed the parachute payments then run for the hills minimising his losses. The fact he's still investing means he has to regain and retain PL status to not lose a huge amount of cash. He's also overseen large investment in the infrastructure of the club (training facilities, big empty stand etc.)

So regardless of whether he's converted a certain amount to equity or not he's very much "in for a penny, in for a pound" and to doubt or question his current financial commitment is ridiculous.
