So many players do it though and don't get booked, there needs to be a level of consistency. Gerrard done it the same day and got nothing and there've been countless times where a player has deliberately celebrated with some form of gesture in front of opposition which causes a reaction. Booking Chadli for that shows how pathetic the game has become.
The gesture was no more provacative than scoring a goal in the first place. Walcott's was far worse last season.
What it highlights is the lack of consistency. I don't care if he interprets the rules differently to other refs, it's far more important that you get consistency in the application of the rule, rather than the rule itself.
I find it strange that the focus on the first goal was the pass to Flamini despite Eriksen being about 10 meters away when the pass was played. He didn't have a great game but it was excellent closing down from Eriksen. Infact the media's reaction has been to give us very little credit at all, the bullet points on the BBC match article are all about Arsenal.
