I'm not really interested in what you think about A87, I think you're being pedantic, picking and trying to weave an argument out of the word 'we' when the thrust of the comment was about how we need to improve our play by speeding it up and getting behind the defence.

Also Walcott has been out for 6 months, so that's exactly why I'm saying that him coming back in should help us to play in this way.

We are 10 games into the season and we have better and more faster personnel than previous seasons, what could be the reason then? Ultimately he is the coach and he is the one who sets out our tactics and formation. If hypothetically you are correct and he wants us to play at a much faster tempo, he clearly is doing something wrong after 10 games. Is he failing to transmit his message? Do the players not listen to him? It's hard to understand why we aren't playing better with our top players, other than putting the blame at the gaffers door.

The real reason is its how he sets his teams out to play, it's his default style of play. Wenger is still very well respected and I just can't see him losing the dressing room. Cesc wanted to come back as he loved it at Arsenal and many others have wanted to come back due to Wenger.

I was jesting. He's clearly not lost the dressing room. He's clearly the one in charge. His players are clearly following instructions. They're clearly his instructions. He's the reason we play slow, possession based football which doesn't work.

I don't know to be honest. It's a type of play that we tend to revert to when it's not going well. Possession and pass pass pass. I honestly don't think that Wenger is telling them to go out there and play slow football. But he probably does tell them to be patient and try to find the right ball rather than hoof if forward hopefully.

We have Sanchez and Welbeck who are also quick but they seem to have got caught up in this pass and possession play, it's probably a bit too early to say that's the way they will always play. This turns defenders to face their own goal and allows our creative players to push up further without getting bunched up and being pressed by the oppo defence. This is the difference. It's not about Wenger changing tactics or being stubborn and refusing to play this way. It's about what players on the pitch offer this route forward - and Walcott is that player who does it for Arsenal. As mentioned if we start to play that way again, then maybe we'll see more of Sanchez and Welbeck doing the same, but at the moment, they are getting caught up in the whole slow tippy tappy possession play.

feck me , if i see Merts get given the ball and then turn immediately backwards and LOOK for the backward/sideways pass like its the default.......i could scream .

3 ) He MUST want them to do exactly that .

The fact is there is ZERO pressure on Wenger to produce anything........ therefore no incentive to even try anything different .

What he offers is stagnation .

Every coach in the league knows EXACTLY how Arsenal will play when they face us.

When Spurs moved forward they did at pace and as a quick unit .

We have one or 2 players moving quickly forward but they dont get the long pass to make any use of that speed.

It always gets held up in the midfield by the slow fecking short passers....and comes to nothing.

I saw at least 2-3 times during the spurs game that when we had a chance to break there was nobody making runs ahead of the player with the ball. There was a classic case when Ozil, one of the best players in the world for creating attacking play, broke only to find himself having to check and square it to Wilshere.

Ozil and Walcott haven't had a chance to play much together yet, but the few times that they have they are looking to link up with each other and find the spaces behind the defence.

Wenger tells them to build from the back, hence Chensey playing it short. Flamini was too weak, you can't allow Eriksen of all people to bundle you off the ball, ffs. He is just doing what the manager tells him to do. If in that situation if he just hoofed it up the pitch and we lost the ball, Wenger would not probably not be happy to see us turn the ball over. Playing it short, gives us a better chance to keep the ball and build pressure, and possession is what Wenger's philosophy is all about these days. Under a different manager, I have no doubts that Chensey would 'mix it up'.
