Anyone got any idea of stats regarding possession v injuries? Seems to me teams that play tippy-tappy possession football get tackled (or attempted tackles) more often and end up with more injuries.

Once you start losing games you will end up going on a horrible run. Remember it wasn't too long ago Laudrup was being viewed as a top manager with Swansea then the following season he nearly gets them relegated. Although I did say Saints could have the last laugh and still finish as the best club outside the top 7 if they make the right signings so I expect you to have a decent season for a club of your size even after your form drops.

Link on the BBC website today "Van Gaal accepts Rooney's red card". Wow that's generous of him isn't it? Just another example of the media and their sense of "entitlement" to the top 4 that they perceive for ManU (and Liverpool).

NB I haven't seen the highlights, so only just realised that WestH had an equaliser ruled out - was it offside?

Just. Nolan's head was past the last man, but I'm not sure how much the linesman knew about it.
As the Spammer himself pointed out, he was blowing hard and struggling to keep up with the play.
Good decision though, as he got it right and it was extremely marginal.

Nice to see Rooney getting what he deserved, though. Really poor foul and the intent was shoddy, too.
Not sure how much they'll miss him now. They've got a lot of cover in his role.

Vim, what on earth are you going on about ?????!!!!

To me it's quite refreshing to hear that from van gaal tbh.

No, it looked marginally onside to me (but i could be wrong)

Is there any point in us turning up next week? You know, seeming that we're playing a club of your size?

Well allerdyce says it was offside. He described it in great detail so yes, he was offside.

And entitlement to top 4?

It was offside, but Allardyce saying so has absolutely no influence on that. He talks a lot of bollocks.

If you haven't noticed the media's desire for certain clubs to do well, then you're not paying much attention.
We 'stole' Liverpool's top 4 place a while ago, despite them finishing 7th and the same suggestions are being made about United.
You've finished up there regularly and your spending will ensure that you get back there soon, but it's something that has to be earned.
The hacks are on the verge of being outraged whenever anyone dares to get in the way. It's pathetic.

The media ****ing hates us. They are literally begging for us to **** up. Take sky for example, the soccer special pundits tend to get worked up everytime a team attacks us, everyone has written us off and theres nobody who says top 4 is possible. Paul tye drunken gambler merson says we will be miles off.

So im a little confused. Even the bbc are just waiting for us to fail.

Contrast with liverpool, who tye media are reluctant to question despite their start and equally massive spending.

you have had every one in the media sucking up to man utd for years....fergie got away with not giving interviews to the bbc for years when everyother manager had to ... pundits tapped up players for you ... as did news papers...outragous amounts of fergie time givrn when you werent winning was treated as a joke...as was paul scholes horrenfous tackles, if he played for stoke he'd have been slaughtered but every red card he got was treated like it was a joke.
Near corrupt favourable decisions in uniteds were glossed over....they received so many outragous decisions over the yrs it was unfunny.

And now united fans whine about the press not liking them...try being a spurs fan, or a stoke fan, or a villa fan, or an everton fan or a fan of any non favoured club....welcome to the real world <laugh>

Dont know what ****e is printed down there but theres no love for united in tge press. Rarely ever has been. The MEN takes the piss out of united. Clearly run by a city fan.'the red tops are written by and aimed at ******s. Ignore everyword theyve ever printed.

Weve got two or three journos who occasionally write something positive about the ckun. Most dont, predering to have sly digs.

Its another myth. One of many. Sure when we were winning its hard to write negative articles but that didnt mean we were favoured. Its when your losing and still getting favourable press that you know who the media prefers.

Liverpool
Chelsea
Arsenal

Those 3 clubs can do no wrong. Remember the decade of nothing for arsenal? How the press banged on about how they played the best football (they didnt). Or liverpiols near 30 year wait, its always just about to happen.... (never going to happen).

Then chelsea. Has a bad word been said since 2003? Try and find an example.

14. Can't believe that there's a United fan suggesting that the media is anit-United!
<doh>

What was all that about, on MOTD, with Linekar doing a personal video conference interview with Mr Dodgy Barnet? What other manager is given that treatment? What's so ****ing special about Mr Dodgy Barnet? Did you hear the way Linekar sucked up to him? It was a good thing Mr Dodgy Barnet wasn't in the studio, because Linekar would definitely have sucked his cock.

And have you actually listened to TalkShite! Mark "Yes, I Will Have A ****ing Argument With Myself" Saggers practically spunks over his microphone every time he talks about United, and by the way Keyes and Grey eulogize about Fergie, you'd think he was the risen Christ! It's stomach-churning.

Although I agre with you, the funny thing is that compared to the way they talk about Liverpool you could say they're anti united <yikes>

16. Indeed.

They practically dribble and drool over 'Pool. It's nauseating. And I really don't understand why! 'Pool haven't done anything since the 70s!

On TalkShite, they even have this twat of a Mouser-actor who does some of the advertising and link-work. There's one particularly pathetic ad/link, where the said Mouser is pretending to be a manager trying to get the likes of Alan Brazil and Darren Gough to stop acting like ****wits and do whatever the hell it is they are supposed to be doing. It annoys the **** out of me that every time TalkShite, or any of its advertisers, want to portray a football manager they employer a Mouser actor. Name me one good current Mouser manager.

He does it every week. Last week was Leicester's Nigel Pearson, IIRC.

I must admit I've missed spotting the pro-United bias too.

What the media do is report everything about Utd - good, bad or indifferent. Overexposure is not necessarily good - it's often bad. The idea that the media are prepared to vet their coverage to present a pro-United stance is ridiculous.

Covering Utd sells papers, satellite packages and advertising space. The media aren't bothered what they write/say as long as it's something.

The media have been pro-United for years. The simple fact is, they had to be:

Wouldn't talk to the BBC because they ran a true story, banned journalists for asking him questions that he didn't like and constantly stirred up **** with crappy, leaked articles.

The press have always been ludicrous when it comes to reporting football, because to them this is how every story goes:
Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City or win - they're going to win the title
Arsenal or Liverpool win - they're going to challenge for the title
Spurs or Everton win - they're going to challenge for Champions League places
QPR, Palace, Burnley, Leicester or Hull win - they're going to stay up

Sandwiched in the middle there's a whole bunch of clubs who, in the eyes of football journalists, are completely irrelevant to the Premier League as a whole, and that's as problematic as Tory peer Karrunt Brady using her column to slag of Ed Milliband (which was included in the gossip column on the BBC Football site, before being swiftly taken down) because, much as Sky try to deny it, the losers are just as important to the Premier League as the winners.
