Thought he was on the down side of his career but was immense today... a great sign for him and the club.
    Really happy to be wrong
As much as I dislike vertongens attitude they are a good pairing and if they continue as today then we have a steady base to build on

It was great to see him dominate in his own box like that. Not sure I've ever seen him do it before. Unfortunately I think it might be the case that the backs to the wall defending at times helped get the best out of him. Hope I'm wrong.

I thought the entire back 4 and Lloris were excellent. I've complained about Naughton far more than he deserves so lots of credit to him today, it wasn't an easy game for our fullbacks but they were solid all game.

Hi yv...agree mate...naughton and rose were good too
The only real disappointment to me was adebayor...thought he was non existent most of the match...maybe he struggles playing there now?
Good to see the mason inclusion go well
And really pleased for chadli...could easily have hid after his first half miss

Like you, RCL, I wondered if we'd ever see the great athlete that we'd seen a couple of years ago, ever again. I wondered if his injuries had left him unable to regain his past capabilities.

I just hope he can stay fit and continue to play like he did yesterday

He had a great game but most of the goons strikers could go under-cover within a tribe of Pygmies. Definitely vertically challenged. Let's hope he can do the same against proper strikers. Lloris played his best game ever for Spurs.

Plus as we where pushed back, defenders can find that extra motivation to stand strong so the test will be when we face teams like West Bromwich and saints.

I remember Gallas playing out of his skin when we beat man Utd 3-2 away. Rolling back the years. Kaboul may not be that age but until he shows it on a consistent basis then I won't start viewing him as returning to the level he played to under Redknapp.

People are very quick to write players off, forgetting that form comes and goes. We should realise by now how difficult it is to sign top players to Spurs with the competition from clubs above us. We just can't afford to be precious about players like Kaboul and Adebayor.

I thought last year he was fully back to his best physically. The mistakes seemed to result from playing for us last year. For whatever reason, all our defenders last year had a number of shockers and looked generally discombobulated.

Kaboul looked very good in preseason, though he was bad against someone, can't remember who. I was certainly hopeful he could be back to his best, because Fazio, the other defender we have who is strong in the air, is the size of Mertesacker, and, I'm afraid, not much faster.

In any case, he was superb Saturday, and not just in the air. He made some thumping clearances from very awkward positions. The captain's armband suits him.

Was great seeing Younes back to his best. Really hope he can maintain those sort of performances like he did when he partnered Ledley in his final season.

On his day he's up there with the best in the league, I truly believe that.

Despite this being Jan's third season with the club now, I think this is the first run of games where he and Kaboul have played together where both are fully fit and 100%.

I think every Spurs fan has waited for this, all of us know how good the two are individually and providing neither get any knocks, this can be the making for a very, very good partnership - as we all believed it would.

Both of them need to up their game on their decision making. Kaboul needs to show more mental composure and Verts needs to get his head out of his backside a bit more frequently. Other than that, despite Kaboul making an almighty balls up of one clearance and the pair of them going AWOL on Pelle's horror miss, I thought they did ok.

Good article in the local Tottenham rag

    http://www.tottenhamjournal.co.uk/t...ion_about_his_injuries_and_contract_1_3796774

Tottenham captain Younes Kaboul says he wants to “end all the speculation” about his injuries and his contract situation, stating his fitness problems are behind him and that he has a deal that runs until 2016.

Kaboul had knee surgery in August 2012, which ruled him out for the whole of the following campaign, and he then suffered regular setbacks in his comeback, missing 14 games between November and February last season due to a thigh problem.

However, the centre-back has been a first-team regular since March and he does not foresee another further fitness issues.

“That is finished, look at me on the pitch,” he said. “I want to end all the speculation about all of my injuries.

“You know, for a professional footballer, you need a full pre-season. If a player goes through all of a full pre-season over nearly two months, he should be fine.

“You always can have these little injuries, that is normal, but physically you feel much better. This is the first time I’ve had a pre-season for three years so I had no injury, I am fully fit and feel very good.”

It is widely believed that Kaboul’s Tottenham contract expires in the summer, which contributed to the surprise in some quarters when he was named club captain.

But the Frenchman said: “I still have until June 2016 and I am very happy at Spurs.”

Meanwhile, Kaboul has spoken of his pride at playing under Mauricio Pochettino and being given the captain’s armband by the new head coach.

“Mauricio was a top defender first of all, a very classy defender,” said the skipper. “We learn a lot from him because he has got experience at this level and we try to put everything he has taught us into the game.

“We’ve been working on reading the game properly and anticipating stuff. I think we have applied this already during the games.

“Of course I remember him as a player. He scored against Auxerre, the team I was playing with, and I was a ball boy.

“He scored in the goal that I was just behind and I remember it. It was a volley from his right foot and it was the first game of Ronaldinho being at PSG. I remember it like it was yesterday and now he is my manager.

“I’ve spoken to him about it and he remembered the goal. That was only 2001, it was not long ago when you think about it, and now he is my manager. I am very proud.

“I am the captain and I am very delighted about that. But the most important thing is that all the players have their words to say.

“I will always be myself and, during the games, I hope my team-mates will help each other every day. We’ve got a good understanding on the pitch.”
