Yesterday Barkley to City, today Sterling to Madrid.

Hacks with nothing else to fill their pages with.

Maybe. But he's not at Sterling's level yet. Besides, I was talking about on the market. <ok>

Ibe is about where Sterling was at the beginning of last season. If he could improve as rapidly as Sterling did (huge if) - he could be mega by 2nd half of season.

Ibe excites me way more than Suso or Pacheco ever did! Hope he doesn't disappoint.

  6. Ibe was ahead of Sterling about two years ago when they both made their debuts. One as had a run in in the first team, the other didn't and then got shipped out on loan.

IMO, Sterling is more versatile and direct than Ibe. Ibe is more of a out-and-out winger.

  7. We wouldn't sell Raheem for £1 but we would sell him for £1b. Somewhere inbetween there is a turning point <ok>

    ...

Yep, that's complete bollox. It should say Barkley to Liverpool and Raheem to get a bumper new deal :)

That used to be my opinion of Ibe , too. However, we saw in pre-season that Ibe can play the tip f the diamond just like Sterling, and excel. He just needs to improve his finishing, as Sterling did.

  9. True but I tend not to take much notice of pre-season games. Voronin was our star man for to pre-seasons running and Pacheco looked like a world star in the making too.

i hope ibe isnt going to miss out because as you say he isnt versatile.

i can see what brendans doing, he wants players to play a few positions, but i would rather have a player who is master in that one position given a go, rather than one who gets a chance just because he is versatile in a few, but not as good.

he has talent lets use it.

  11. I don't think he will miss out due to a lack of versatility. Yes, Brod says he likes players that can play in varying positions enabling interchanging play on the pitch but he also just bought Balotelli!

    Two things.

    1) his finishing.
    2) Know when to pass the ball instead of take on 4 defenders at once.

there's a difference between versatility and flexibility.

If for example flanagan plays LB and RB he is versatile.

Sterling and other attackers are being required to play across the front line as a part of todays game. So Ibe will be required to do the same.

Its not about being a left winger or right winger now its about plating right across the pitch

  14. Both things that Sterling had to learn too

well we are letting suso go <whistle>

no completely one footed players can still play either side. its about the ability to move left and right and have the vision and interplay with other players

Some one compared our current form to the start of Rodgers first season.

The turning point that season was the two january signings, Coutinho and Sturridge, who suddenly seemed to pin things together and make our attack click.

We needed a spear head for our attack and some one creative to connect our midfield and attack.

I'm wondering if we can pull that off again.

I feel part of our issue is Sturridge being out so I think it could only take one signings. But we do lack that spark in our build up play.

Could that man be Reus? or Shaqiri?

    Sterling
    Sturridge ---Reus
    Balotelli

Freeing up the the interchangeability again whilst Balotelli provides the physical presence and centre pin.
