some guy on their page is stating not one of the players we have signed would get in their team, saying larsson is average, dong isnt good enough, funny seeing their bitterness i must say, roll on o shea next week, followed by gibson, who once he turns newcastle down for us, probably isnt good enough to get in their team they'll say!

The skunks are a simple breed, and with that comes an obsession with their intellectually superior neighbours. it's best if you just humour them a little to make them feel wanted.

Just for the record, the possibility of Gibson joining us was discussed at length a week or so ago when we were linked with him. There were some in favour but a considerable majority said they didn't want him and that they hoped we didn't get him (many seemed to think he was no better than Guthrie).

This is just so that in the event you do sign him you are forewarned that the majority of dissing you will get from Toon fans on here will be geniune and not sour grapes. In the event that he does join us instead feel free to come on our board and tell us we have wasted money on a loser ... I think you will find that many (myself included) will agree with you.

Not better than Guthrie... He's a lot better than Guthrie. Go to quite a few United games and with some playing time he could become a very capable premiership midfielder. Madness

That is your opinion and I defend your right to it even though I don't agree. I was merely making you all aware that the majority of Toon fans on here don't rate him and aren't at all bothered about signing him.

I actually agree with you that he is better than Guthrie, but that is more because I have a lower opinion of Guthrie than most of my fellow supporters than because I rate Gibson. I actually said I would rather have Gardner. So well done on getting him because I think he will do a very good job for you, albeit mostly as a backup (I'm assuming he won't be seen as a first team regular?).

Yeah of course he'll warm the bench. Why would you play a lad regularly who scored in the double figures from midfield last year?

Sorry for thinking you had enough quality in midfield that he wouldn't warrant an automatic starting place. I obviously rate your team as being better than you do!

Yes we have **** loads of central midfielders who score 10+ goals a season.

He was prolific last season but he hasn't been throughout his career, think I read 17 career goals. Anyway wasn't meant to be an argument starter I genuinely thought you would see him as backup or used in a rotation and not as a regular starter. Like I said I thought your midfield was stronger than that.

In my opinion, if Newcastle want Gibson, we should stand aside, like gentlemen, and let our neighbors have him,
that and the fact he is ****e.

No Bill, honestly, you are more than welcome to him. Wherever he does go, I feel sorry for the fans that sit behind the goals. Gibson couldn't hit a cow's arse with five banjos strapped together. Granted, he's scored some screamers, but I'd be surprised if 1/10 of his shots were on target.

    Whats with the put down?

I merely pointed out in reference to the OP's comment, that we have already had a discussion about whether we want Gibson or not and a clear majority don't. Therefore any negativy expressed by us in the event that he signs for you won't be sour grapes but an honest opinion about the quality of the player.

You complain if we wum but you act aggressively even if we try to engage in a proper conversation or debate.

In fairness I agree with most of what ur saying. I'm not sure where Gibson fits in now, after Gardners arrival but if he arrives I'll back him.

Meyler and Catts are still injured and may miss the start of the new season, so although we have bought Gardener and Larsson, our midfield still needs a couple of players. Gibson and Vaughan? The lack of any ability for squad rotation last year cost us in the end and our squad was stretched. Bruce is building for a long term plan and if we were to make the Europa Cup, you need a far bigger squad altogether. Instead of another 4, 5 or 6 players again next year, we are recruiting big time now and next season, I dont think any more than 2 or 3 maximum will come in.
