Agree Balotelli isn't a player you can ever rely on. The guys obviously talented, but he just doesn't have it upstairs to ever be a world class player

Balotelli is a nut-case, play him against United and he'll get sent off.

Apparently the RS have not lost 3 in first 5 matches for the last 25 years. Is Brenda trying to outdo Moyes in beating all sorts of records ? <laugh>

Let's see whether Everton can do a wham and attack the RS from the off in their next match. Their midfield is worse than ours last season and THAT takes some doing. No energy, slow, slack passing with sterling only remotely interested. When a fat Sam team out passes you, you f**ing know (or should know) you are in big trouble. <laugh>

Just watched the game again on BBC. Schoolboy errors from Liverpool, goalkeeper suspect for the 3 goals, defence non existent, and England's womens team had more bite in midfield. Taglatelli didn't look remotely interested, and Stevieme is well and truly burnt out. A long trip in mid week, and then Everton next weekend, with the blues playing well. Brenda's body language of a man in deep stress. Could be even more stressed if Everton win

And long may it continue

Liverpool won't get into the top 4 this season, they look weaker than they did last season, they look lost without Suarez int heir team as well. They have a crap defence as well.

I agree with most of that, Matth. Still say our defence is better than yours, though. Only time will tell.<ok>

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/sep/22/brendan-rodgers-liverpool-form-weight-jersey

Brendan Rodgers blames poor Liverpool form on ‘weight of the jersey’

Brendan Rodgers has identified formation changes and the “weight of the jersey" on Liverpool’s summer signings as the causes of the team’s early troubles, conceding he must find a settled system to rectify the problem. Liverpool host Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday with the manager considering debuts for the 17-year-olds Jordan Rossiter and Sheyi Ojo while he rests Steven Gerrard from a midfield hit by injury. Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho could join Joe Allen and Emre Can on the sidelines with respective hip and groin problems with the Merseyside derby against Everton awaiting on Saturday.

Rodgers is also prepared to give his preferred midfield diamond a rest against the Championship side having admitted his available players were unsuitable for the system that started at West Ham United on Saturday, when Liverpool suffered their third league defeat in five Premier League matches.

“Our passing disappointed me," the Liverpool manager said. “We played more long passes than West Ham and that is something you have not seen from us in over the two years. We need to get back to doing what we do best. I look at the movement patterns in our team, our pressing in those patterns of pressure and, given the injuries, I need to retain a system for a longer period.

“The 4-4-2 diamond worked really well but it worked well with certain players and not at the weekend. Until I get all the players back that I know are multifunctional players, I’ll look at the strength of the players we do have fit. Hopefully that gives them confidence. Confidence has not been affected so far but if you don’t win games for too long it can be."

Liverpool signed nine players in the summer and Rodgers believes the eight involved in his first-team squad (Divock Origi was loaned back to Lille) need time to adapt: “We’ve conceded eight goals and the majority of those could have been avoided but what people probably don’t get is the pressure of playing for such a big club. The weight of the jersey here is heavy for most players. Once you adapt to playing for Liverpool you become clearer in your thinking."

[h=5]Manchester United's grey football kit yesterday became a collector's item as the "strip they couldn't see" was consigned to the dustbin after less than a season.[/h]The outfit, which adorned the likes of Cantona and Giggs on United's appearances away from their home ground of Old Trafford, was blamed for a string of disappointing results and will be replaced by an all-white version.
United are on the verge of winning the Premiership title - the biggest prize in football - despite having lost four and drawn one of the five games in which the unlucky, two-tone design had been worn.
The last straw came on Saturday at Southampton when, after going in three goals down at half-time, the United manager, Alex Ferguson, ordered a switch to the team's blue and white third kit. The changed worked, but only partially as United lost 3-1.
"The players couldn't pick each other out," Ferguson said. "They said it was difficult to see their team-mates at distance when they lifted their heads. It was nothing to do with superstition. This club went 26 years without winning the league and we didn't think about changing the red shirts. It's nothing to do with that at all."
Thousands of parents, who bought the Umbro-manufactured grey shirts - priced pounds 29.99 and pounds 39.99 - for their children, will now have to finance the change to white, although Umbro has attempted to soften the blow by reducing the price by pounds 10.
However, England's biggest and wealthiest club - the kit deal with Umbro is worth pounds 80m over six years - were already committed to bringing out a new version of their traditional red shirt for next season and will change the blue and white third kit at the turn of the year.
Tony Kershaw, the secretary of the National Federation of Football Supporters' Clubs, said: "You can only sum it up as a rip-off. Changing all three kits in the course of one season is totally unfair to the fans of all age groups, not just children. United fans will want to have all three kits and they are just being taken for a ride."

Can I just point out here that I think he doesn't literally mean the jersey weight.

I assume he means the weight, as in burden, of playing for Liverpool.
