For once I half agree with you. The grass is always greener with football player quality.

Remember when Joe Cole was injured for the first few games of world cup 2006 (I think it was)... Everyone saying we'd be better when he came back.

Everyone saying we'd be better when Rooney came back in all those tournaments he was injured or suspended for.

Very easy to say we'd be better with someone who isn't there because you can't immediately be proved wrong. But it rarely is the case when they actually come back.

Though there does come a point where you have to say, 'you know what, this probably isn't working out, that player at club x looks a good bet and we should sign him and see what he can do'.

There is also the question that our players are patently good enough but aren't winning enough trophies. Fabregas and Van Persie have moved and won titles. Why didn't they with us? It's not as if they were water carriers in their respective title winning teams.

Player quality is not our limiting factor I feel.

Not really though, the original comment was in the context that, in my opinion, RB position will be okay because Chambers is good enough to play there. Not that - it will have to be good enough because there's no alternative. If I didn't think Chambers was good enough, I would have said 'I don't think Chambers is good enough'

I think we won't have much choice but to recall Jenks should a CB/RB gets injured. Rather than turning to an unproven player, I'd rather we play Jenks who has Arsenal experience and has been decent.

Debauchy has been good so far but I wouldn't be surprised if we look better with Chambers at RB.

He's fairly quick, very strong, aggressive and will certainly give us a bit more physicality in defensive situations.

Also Gibbs is back and for me this is a big boost. We have looked more vulnerable down the left so this is a big plus.

Chambers----Mertesacker----Koscielny----Gibbs is a solid looking back four IMO.

    I'd order a pizza. <whistle>

There are rumours of us now looking at free agents to cover. This will be like Silvestre all over again...well, bar us paying for him <yikes>

Scratch that, he might be back now. I heard he'd done his hamstring and, knowing he's an Arsenal player, assumed it would be for months. Apparently changing shirts means he's healthy already.

Can we actually recall Jenkinson though?

Every time I've watched Chambers he hasn't displayed any great pace.

Relying on Gibbs is a dangerous thing.

We'll see how good Chambers is/can be at RB, and no better place to start than Dortmund, :D.

Having said that, if one of our CB's get's injured, then we're royally ****ed....I can't understand why we didn't bring in 1 more defender, makes no bloody sense.

Serioulsy?.. only you would put a negative spin on the fact our first choice left back is fit again.

    I'm hugely optimistic about Chambers.

Good to see Chambers in action and his first test in the Champions League will be a VERY STIFF one. I really do feel for him, as it's a tough first game away for him at Dortmund. I'm partly thrilled and partly sorry for him. Let's hope he has a good one!

I am kinda hoping we get to see more of Belerin because when I have seen him play he has always impressed. This wouldn't be the ideal circumstances for him to get a run in the first team, but sometimes chucking someone in at the deep end can produce a nice surprise.

8 years with Barca and picked for the Spanish U16, U17 & U19's means he has something about him. I know it's risky, but I think it's one we shouldn't be too adverse to taking. :)

I really do have a reputation for being negative don't I...

THat wasn't meant to be me having a go at Gibbs. He can't help getting injured. I just meant it's got the point with him now that I don't feel like he can be relied on for a season. His body just seems too prone to muscle injuries like Diaby.
