Still 1/8 for Spuds on sky bet. Possibly missing from the photo shoot. Surely he's got to stay through this window after all that's been said this week. Anyone heard anything?
Morgan Schneiderlin says he had an agreement to join a club not in the Champions League but didn't want to force move from Southampton. please log in to view this image The France international was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer transfer window but has remained with the Saints and continues to impress. Schneiderlin did not name the other club involved, but Spurs' late move for Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli suggests former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino was keen to take the 24-year-old with him to White Hart Lane. Schneiderlin told RMC: "I found an agreement to join another club that wasn't in Champions League. I did not want to force myself out. Especially for the fans, it would not have been an honourable way."
He has come out of this with some faith intact. Someone brought him up well ...... some players' parents should be embarrassed
“My situation was simple. I wanted to take the next step and play for a club playing in the Champions League or the Europa League,” he told Le Sport 10. “There were offers on the table but Southampton made their choice clear about keeping me as there were a number of departures this summer. They look to me for the future. “They blocked [a move away] and I must accept that I have three years left on my contract and cannot afford not to play. Southampton, who I owe a lot to, have [given] me the opportunity to stake my claim for a spot in the French squad. “I could not afford to clash with the club’s supporters who have been very good to me. It would not have been the right way to leave the club.”
Probably saw the response to his infamous tweet and looked at Lovren and Lallana and knew he didn't want to be like them.
He was very upset at the time, but he has calmed down. The trouble with social media is that it allows you to speak before your brain kicks in....like walking around with a loaded gun in your hand is different from having to climb up into the loft to retrieve it.
I am pleased he is showing some maturity, but it still bugs me that players seem to think they can make agreements, with other clubs, before their current club has given them permission to do so, and also agreed terms for the sale.
He mentioned in an interview that Ron had signed good players. If you insult the French even in a joke, Godders posts how lovely it is and then pops over for another visit.
To be fair, at the moment he has more chance of getting in the France squad than Lord Twatbeard has of getting in the England squad (and France are better). So maybe the big money move is not always the best thing Lord Twatbeard in "New Liverpool signing re-defines 'le cock sportif'" shocker
I still cannot respect any player who believes a move from Saints to Spurs shows ambition. It is like leaving a good job in a place you love for a ten quid pay rise and a comfy chair. If he goes to Arsenal, I will cheer him. I will not do so at Spurs.
The Spurs boat has surely sailed. I hope that he has the sort of season, that if he leaves, he goes to a really big team in Europe, that's the only way I could take him leaving. We talk about Lamberts part in the 5 year plan, but Morgan IS the journey in its truest sense.
