This deserves at least one reply. What a great programme that was. Two genuinely funny guys. A tad better than today's Sky namesake.

Who remembers when Tiss was on it with a really quick put down on some rowdy Pompey fans?

Yeah I remember this well.....Couldn't imagine a certain Argentinian ex manager doing something like this, he wouldn't even speak English here for fear of ridicule.
Love Lawrie Mac doing an impression of a Geordie Victor Meldrew!

I would LOVE to see that Newcastle game in it's entirety again, sitting back knowing that at some point, Matty would light it up TWICE, with two of the most fabulous goals anyone is likely to see anywhere.

…….until the following week when he'd do it all over again.

Every time there is a great goal on telly and everyone is going nuts about it, I tell my kids that Matty scored dozens of those (and I mean EVERY time). When the World Cup was on I'd be saying, "Matty was better than him".

They don't believe me, of course, because he hardly played for England and never won anything. Can't blame them I suppose.

I think I said in here before, but I queued at St Mary's for Matty's book signing with my son who then would have been 7 or 8. TV cameras interviewed us and when I said that my only disappointment with Matty's career was that my son never got to see him play, my lad replied, "I have Dad, I've seen him on the Playstation" South Today or which ever channel it was made the most of that when they showed it. Priceless.

Lff - show them the video; simply the best.

Le Tissier is the only player that I have said it was an honour to watch play.

I do very much the same thing. Every great goal I've seen, post-LeTiss, is invariably judged on whether Matty would have done it with aplomb, consummate ease, or whether he'd have needed a little effort to make it work. If a goal is worthy it's definitely a great one.
To a certain extent I also do it when I see some superstar cross or pass the ball, leaving the commentator going wild. It's then that I think... that pass/cross was meat and drink to Matty.
I think supporters from elsewhere and the media often only remember LeTiss for his goals, quite forgetting that he was outrageously talented at every skill involving the ball being at his feet. People occasionally say... they broke the mould after he came out. Never truer than when applied to Le God.

I did. To be fair, they were impressed but they still think I exaggerate. They just can't get there head around the fact that if he was that good why wasn't he a global superstar. Neither can I come to that!

He was certainly a superstar, and his approach to training meant he was more global than most footballers.
