This thread will be irrelevant in a few weeks once United have become irrelevant in the title chase. Of course united may go and spend another £200 million to add more mercanaries who don't want to play in CL but want to have massive wages. I hope they do buy as many as they can get, because if they fail to qualify for CL this season their new super £750 million shirt deal gets downgraded and then can United afford them
3 players? You only signed 2, Rojo and Shaw. You're going to need far more than just signing 1 CB, the rest of your CB's are quite average with Jones a little above average.
Such anger. Even the Scousers aren't as eaten up as some of you guys and they've had 25 years of mediocrity compared to your decade!
I am old enough to remember when Liverpool were the dominant team and then they went in to a steep decline. I also remember their cockiness when they were on top and how it rankled Unites fans who then gloated when Liverpool fell from grace. Perhaps this decline if Uniteds is a temporary fall from the top or perhaps it is the start if a prolonged period in the shadows. Remember Liverpool have spent hundreds of millions and changed manger countless times as they seek the League title to no avail. So there is a precedent in place for once mighty clubs becoming ordinary. Enjoy the ride, cling on to the past as it may be all you have, and try to be less cocky so we then won't need to gloat over your fall. The reason fans like Man City fans is because they haven't been cocky over their recent success and have been relatively humble, an attribute United fans could do with adopting. IMO
Good advice. Shame you didn't heed it when Arsene invented Wengerball! Who knew the Unbeatables would turn into the 4thplaceables?!
I think you'll find most clubs have the Charity Shield on their roll of honour, some even celebrate winning the "Full Members" cup
Whatever, its a giant 50p at the end of the day. I have never really counted the "one match trophies" as major honours really (Community Shield, European Super Cup etc) To me a major honour is the league title, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the European Cup or the UEFA cup. (And yes, I call them by those names on purpose .) Don't really count the World Club cup either, since its a joke of a competition evidenced by the fact that its matches are not even broadcasted here.
Well thats now defunct but yeah I suppose that and the European Cup Winners Cup were both major honours in their day (The fact that Chelsea won both cups twice has nothing to do with it )
In 1 year, United outdid us in terms of mediocrity, becoming a mid-table club, lol. Even during our darkest times, we were never a mid-table team, which is what United currently are, mid table-United should be your new name.
Don't know that the club World Cup can be ignored. It's between the winners of the cl equivalent on each continent. Whilst the quality round the world might not be as good as in Europe in general, they are all continental champions and it is more than just a single game. I see it as quite an interesting trophy tbh. If we won the CL I'd definitely want us to win it. Good quality, rare trophy. I think the super cups count, but obviously they don't fall into the same category as the league or champions league. A trophy is a trophy, but they obviously have different levels of difficulty and prestige.
Don't knock 4th placeability as your team may need it. I would rather we had won more in last decade (and all fans want more from their clubs) but I am realistic that we didn't have the money to compete as it was being used to pay for Emirates Stadium. The fact that we have been consistently in the top 4 in the last 10 years is something most other premier league sides can only dream of (spurs Liverpool Everton) and shows how good a manager AW is. Any fool can spend but a wise man invests for the future.
