Article just now on NUFC blog makes interesting reading. http://www.utd111.co.uk/blog/2014/09/07/can-alan-pardew-survive-southampton-and-hull/? Maybe our form of past seasons in seeing off other teams managers will continue...bit long maybe but repeating it below. 'Itâs becoming clear from comments made by many Newcastle United fans, particularly on social media, that the natives are getting restless again. The near rebellion which happened at the end of last season after a disastrous run of results led to Alan Pardew seeking the safe haven of his dugout in the final home game, rather than face the wrath of the fans when he tried to stand in his technical area. Who knows what might have happened after that if there had been any more games to play, but luckily for Pardew the season finished just in time! The summer transfer window then saw a remarkable event, as Newcastle United actually brought in some new players. OK, they were just replacements for players who had left or were leaving, and the activity was financed by the Cabaye and Debuchy sales, but nevertheless fresh players coming in seemed to allay some of the doom and gloom surrounding Tyneside. However, the discontent with various aspects of the way the club is being run these days was still simmering just below the surface and everyone knew it wouldnât take much to ignite it again. Add to that the ongoing debate about whether the squad is actually stronger after the comings and goings, and it is clear that doubts still exist. Three games into the new season without a win have backed up what the doubters have been saying. A bad start to the season, but even this still might have bought Pardew some time with the long-suffering United support. However, the one thing we have learned under the current ownership is to always watch out for the traditional kick in the proverbials just when things are settling down. And it duly arrived on Transfer Deadline Day. Fansâ favourite Hatem Ben Arfa was shipped out to Hull City, who may well be our rivals if we are lucky enough to be trying to âachieveâ that coveted 10th place towards the end of the season. Not only that, but Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa â arguably our most mobile and technically gifted central defender was sent off to Roma. So instead of bringing in the striker and central defender the squad is crying out for, the clubâs owners actually depleted us in those areas. Now Pardew faces an away game at Southampton next weekend. Defeat there is unthinkable. A result of some sorts must be achieved. However, if United do lose, Pardew will then have to come home and face an unpredictable reception at St Jamesâ Park. And the vistors of course, as fate would have it, are Hull City â and Hatem Ben Arfa. Whilst Ben Arfa cannot play against United as he is on loan, the fans will know he is there â there will doubtless be a reaction from the United faithful and there will also, no doubt, be a few quotes flying around in the media ahead of the game just to spice things up. Some United fans point to the ownerâs constant backing for our beleaguered manager as proof that he will never be sacked. However, if things donât go well for Pardew at Southampton, or at home to Hull for that matter, can a manager actually survive a sustained period of unpopularity to the point where he cannot leave the safety of his âbunkerâ on match days? Against a background of stewards running around attempting to confiscate banners at games, and adverse media coverage of fans unrest, How long could a situation like that be allowed to carry on?"
I cant stand Pardew and have no sympathy for him but its Ashley who pulls all the strings. If they get rid of Pardew it'll only be another puppet in charge.
I know a few Newcastle fans, and they really don't like him. That one Season they finished in Europe, he got gifted that 8 year contract, and then began the beginning of the fall to what it is now...
Let's hope that Pardew stays as long as possible as Newcastle is probably the onlt club Bruce would leave us for (however unlikely with Ashley in charge)
If Pardew does go SB will be one of the favourites to succeed the role...how much does he want it - if at all? It may be one of the few jobs outside the top 6 clubs he would leave us for.
the long-term efect of winning at SJP, if it were to happen, may well be a bid for Bruce by NUFC.. football works like this.. Deep down , you'd imagine SB would want to manage them during his career. Not sure if he'd want to do that under Ashley
Seriously Stan? I was clearly taking the piss, out of someone who can't change a thing. I look forwards to you pulling him up soon.
"Can Alan Pardew Survive Southampton And Hull?" http://www.utd111.co.uk/blog/2014/09/07/can-alan-pardew-survive-southampton-and-hull/? Looks like it's a play-off between Fat Sam and The Nutter.........
I have a feeling that Pardew wiill see this out. After the disastrous ending to last season, coupled with the head butt incident, followed by an ignominious start to the new season and culminating in the disposing of two of the club's better players, he is still there! What else does a manager have to do to get the sack? Teflon Alan Pardew (TAP) can seemingly do no wrong or is Ashley more concerned with the mooted £10 million compensation he would have to pay to terminate TAP's contract? Luckily, it's not our problem!
He won't get sacked any time soon. They not pay off his contract to get rid of hom, and no other club out there will be willing to pay compensation to take him on as their own. Ashley has no interest in Newcastle United in the slightest, he made the biggest mistake in buying that club period and he just can't seem to get rid of it.
Pardew won't get sacked. He works for peanuts as he owed Ashley ridiculous amounts of money in gambling debts allegedly. That's supposedly why he got the job in the first place.
If that were true, then it suits both parties They were on the up and sold Cabaye, no the sign of a club with much ambition
