I'm glad we kept bony but am still disappointed with the lack of depth within our squad. Could have done with at least one more fullback, one more defensive midfielder (wouldn't class Carroll as one) and one more winger. A few injuries in key positions and we're right in the poo.
Well we now have to rely on playerrs like Jazz, Fulton and Carrol. I have confidence in Jazz - he has never let us down - and if givn the opportunity to get a string of games will get confidence and grow into that role. By that I mean own it.. Some will disagree, saying that he is not Prem blah blah blah - but the fact is he is still here and has not been loanded out - Club must believe in him. I have no opinion on Fulton nor Carrol.
United ...... could be a mess on the brink of becoming a disaster. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29026398 Welbeck and Hernandez have left - both quality performers at the Prem level, especially Hernandez. They still havve Fellaini. Lots of cogs left and came in but not clear how they fit together. With Welbeck, if they can keep their midfielders (Ramsey in particular) healthy, Arsenal now have an interesting offensive line-up.
Yankee, are you sure about Wellbeck, he is a striker who cant score. 20 in 90 games in a team that scores for fun or did anyway is not to good. I think he is totally overated and cant see why Arsenal have signed him. Just my opinion obviously and no doubt now he will go on to get 20 odd goals this season now.
Wasn't aware of that statistic. My impression of him, for what it's worth, was that he was always a threat and creative whenever I have seen him play. Because of Rooney and Van Persie, he has been second fiddle and required to play a variety of positions, not necessarily his best. I presume that Wenger has got him to play him, alongside Sanchez and in front of a full strength Arsenal midfield he could come into his own.
I think he bought him as Giroud has broken his leg, Not sure how bad but out for 3 or 4 months. I suspect if Giroud hadnt been injured Wellbeck would either still be at UTD or on loans at Spurs.
I suppose you cant argue with that really. There were no bids, so it does ook like either clubs dont rate him as highly as we do or they dont think he was going to be value for money. Really happy they are all blind though.
He does blow hot an cold though and the easy sitters he has missed don't give clubs much confidence in parting with big money for him.
I think if Bony had netted a couple of goals before dealing day then I'm sure we would have had offers for him. Thankfully for us he's yet to get off the mark and he's still with us. I'm now inclined to say he will be with us till the end of the season, he's going to miss a month with the African Cup of Nations, so I don't see a club making a bid considering he's away for so long. But we never know, we shall have to wait and see. All we need now if for Bony to get off the mark against Chelsea and get that lovely win and sit TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!!!
Looking forward to the squad settling and Bony getting off the mark, I think your right though neveroffside that if he had netted 3+ goals already a club could have potentially come in. As it is he probably needs a few great seasons before any big time move.
I think other clubs rate him, but not as much as £20 million. If he was for sale for £12 Million I think he would be gone. So good on Huw for setting a high price. Of course, we run the risk that he has a bad season and becomes worth much less. But that's football.
Plastic: "So good on Huw for setting a high price." Huw didn't. Bony's release clause wouldn't be triggered for £12m - it's reputedly £19M.
Typical.... Dragon and plastic arguing over the same viewpoint...c'mon guys lets stop being so argumentative, especially when there is no argument ...lol
Fair play Nottage, you're a tryer Only problem is your arms are going to be aching badly before too long
