Just one last comment from me on the game!

I thought Ruddy's kicking was bloody awful all through the game! Is it normally that bad?

no. usually a strength but since his injury a couple of years ago its definitely not been as consistent. much better on his left peg now though, never concerned when we get a back pass to that side. to be fair, he rarely kicks the ball at the moment as we are trying to play everything short, even in tight situations, so its not really been an issue. i agree it was on derby day.

yep. he did it a couple of times on saturday too. its when he is aiming for a wide man though rather than just aimlessly hoofing it up field, so needs to be a bit more accurate. i think we can put up with a couple of stray passes though - he's a top keeper at this level. surprised if we see a better one this season

I only wish we made him prove it! <laugh> <ok>

exactly, no need for the "our second team could beat your first team" load of old guff. bragging rights are with you budgies, but football has a habit of kicking you in the balls when you least expect it.

Guru I know you're a slippery and disingenuous little customer, but we weren't talking about bragging rights or anything like that. It was you who brought up our recent match.

So the real question remains, unsurprisingly, dodged by you: do you think the Ipswich team would beat the Norwich second team I listed above more often than they would lose?

more than likely yes, but like i have said football has a habit of kicking you in the balls when you least expect it.

I mean, who would expect a non league side to beat a premier league side?

Sorry - I'm not quite clear here. Do you seriously think the Ipswich first team would beat that team I listed more often than not? Seriously? Bearing in mind the levels various players in each squad have reached...

yeah, that is my opinion from watching them quite a bit. You come across quite matter of fact, you do realise that football isn't played on paper and levels mean for diddly squat when the teams cross that white line.

Take the last time you were in this division, Our team on paper should have pissed over yours, didn't happen though did it. your opinion is probably different but opinions are like assholes, we all have one.

Actually I'd say your board has more than one of them, but again that's just my opinion <ok>

Guys Guru has given his answer and the Ipswich match wasn't even our last fixture, can we drop it now it's getting just a little bit silly

as i recall it was just you who thought that. we all felt it was more 6/5 in norwich's favour. in reality i think we were being generous to you! ;)

edit. happy to drop it now rich <ok>

You appear to have completely missed the point (again possibly deliberately). This is not about whether one team on one occasion might be able to beat another. Yes of course they could. I'm saying on balance what would be more likely.

The bottom line is that not many Ipswich players would get into the Norwich second team. Our second team is stronger than your first team. Yes, that is my opinion, but I suspect that behind my opinion also lies the weight of evidence (e.g. player market value, other opinions, etc.) So you can squeal and whine "oh I'm entitled to an opinion" all you like, but that doesn't back up your opinion when your opinion is foundationless.

But anyway, I'm tired of this pointless discussion because as usual, Guru, you move the goalposts or avoid answering the actual question.

More interesting is your other opinion: "Take the last time you were in this division, Our team on paper should have pissed over yours".

The teams that day were:

I not going to go through man-by-man, but safe to say I don't think your team was better on paper. Maybe your bench, but overall I'd say it was probably our team that was better.

Sorry Rich, only just seen your reply after I posted. Dropping it works with me <ok>

Taken from post 229 Rob. I won't hold my breath for the apology if its ok with you.

Agree with Rich, this is my last word on the subject.
