not being funny supers, I lost count the number of times your boys tried to pass it and it went out of play, It was a poor game by both sides, which you deserved to win granted, but you were never comfortable until the final whistle blew against a team of freebies.

i found it very comfortable myself (though i watched on tv - always different on tv - may have felt different in the ground). you created nothing other than one header at goal at the start of the 2nd half. granted, had that gone in then it might have been different but really city should have been out of sight after an hour - it could have been any score had grabban netted one of those gilt-edged chances. but you're right, it was a very poor match - probably the worst derby match i've seen between the clubs.

This is the bit where I think you've missed the point (perhaps deliberately). We played badly. Possibly even worse than against Wolves. Our players weren't properly concentrating, making rash decisions and not playing to their level. They never really got out of second gear.

Yet we were always completely comfortable. At no point in the match did I ever think we would draw. Even Murphy's missed header I was confident that if it had gone in, our team would have gone into third gear for forty minutes and the game would have been won. In a sense I think it was probably a good thing for you that it didn't go in, because I could see that stirring the Norwich ayers into action. A 0-1 loss was a great result for MM because it allowed him to say the game was more competitive than the reality.

It really was a poor game because it was so uncompetitive. Our players took it very easy because it wasn't worth the effort.

good post rob and i too never felt we'd drop points while the game was on. in fact, funny you mention it but i said to the people i was watching the game with that it might have helped us had murphy netted that header as it would have given us a kick up the backside! you never want to concede a goal but we'd got so sloppy. i got the distinct impression that the players were way too comfortable out there. it was distinctly uncompetitive, completely agree.

Whats that?

Sheep?

Cow?

nah, Its bullshit!

1-0 is never comfy, its just bravado from you boys because you knew it could have taken just 1 set piece and the game would have been all square, and our tails would have been up.

On another day our goal could have been flagged offside , I thought the guy on the floor played Grabban on personally but hey ho and in fairness it could have ended 0-0 .
If our players think they can score 1 goal and just coast through the game then we will get caught out many times over the season like Derby found out ,so in my eyes a 1-0 win is never an easy win .

I cannot see this idea of offside for the goal. When Grabban headed it PAST the goalkeeper Berra was getting back to his feet by the edge of the six yard box, at least three yards nearer the goal line than the scorer. Berra plus goalie between Grabban and goal line equals onside.

we went through all this at the time. we can only say how we felt at the time and i for one felt very comfortable that we would see the game out. ipswich didn't test ruddy once - i think he came to claim three or four crosses and that was it. the only time i got animated was through frustration at our own poor play and when we kept missing very presentable chances, not because i felt ipswich would punish us. we should have won the game by a bigger margin, despite our poor play but in the end one goal was enough because, quite simply, there was no threat from our opponents. 1-0 shouldn't be a comfortable score line but on this occasion it certainly was.

when the ball was headed back into the box, Berra was being pushed (sorry moving) towards the goal and grabben was moving away from the goal, defo offside. but saying that it would have been an awesome bit of linesmanship to spot it.

As the ball was played in Grabban was offside but its all water under the bridge! <ok>

to be fair, i've seen one angle where it looks offside - all the other angles show him to be onside. makes me wonder whether the one angle showing him off (which shows tettey? about to head the ball forward) might have been slightly tampered with, because sky certainly said the goal was onside. i think they even put a rule across didn't they?

it was definitely a very tough call for the linesman. i could understand why he got it wrong, if he did.

The better team won on the day so I dont understand why Guru keeps going on about it!

exactly, no need for the "our second team could beat your first team" load of old guff. bragging rights are with you budgies, but football has a habit of kicking you in the balls when you least expect it.

to be fair we were discussing the strength of our squad and using ipswich's squad as a comparison. the question should probably be why are you commenting about the derby game on here? after all guru, you brought it up. ;)

just saying it how it i saw it. funny how others saw it the same <ok>

i watched the game with a saaarfend fan who couldn't believe the score was only 1-0. he saw how comfy i was. i don't think he's ever seen me that relaxed watching norwich! <laugh>
