@StokeLoudProud: The 3 teams who enquired about Geoff Cameron have all failed to sign him. Happy with that tbh #Stoke Not sure on this one, we have 3 RBs and I get the impression GC ain't happy.
Not sure on this, whether it's happened or isn't? @RobAdcock: Hughes on signing Lennon 'You always look at your options but we looked at him (OA) earlier in the window..That was the one that made sense'
Happy with that. Very happy that Bego & Ryan are still here. Not happy with Bardsley & Sidwell we could/should be looking at better players npw. Still think that we need a strong DM. But you can't have everything in life eh?
I think the Bardsley and Sidwell signings were driven by who Hughes expected to move on, I dont think he envisaged them being core players. We will probably see a few move on loan by the next window triming the squad down further and then I would expect a couple of reasonable buys. Overall I am happy with the squad, but we are likely to be very depleted come the end of the season with the current squad (Re: Contract lengths and Ages)
I agree Smithers ; there has to be a step up in quality as well as quantity of players coming in next summer as there is bound to be some of our present core players leaving. I don't think Asmir will be with us next season for one.
the only problem is if you want the step up in quality you have to pay ridiculous money for and higher wages, we simply do not have the money to do this. This squad is almost the best we could get without going into big debt imo and im more than happy with it.
I think that Butland is ready to step up to the plate if Bego were to leave, also I think that we should invest in Yarmolenko when Assaidi returns to Liverpool.
I agree, I think we have an excellent "value for money" squad and I have no issues with the transfer window, Stoke (Coates) has invested heavily in the last few years. However (as with all squads) there is a life span/cycle and I think we are nearing the end of that - we just nead to be mindful and be forward thinking.
I think we should follow the way that Swansea do things. They don't particularly spend a lot but buy a big signing here and now and gamble (Bony)
