This new "experienced international defender who is comfortable on the ball" that we're supposed to be getting? "City have been linked with 25-year-old Tunisian international Syam Ben Youssef, a 6ft 2ins centre-back who plays for Romanian club Astra Giurgiu, but WalesOnline understands manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and chairman Mehmet Dalman, who is heading up the hunt, have now turned to a new target. It is thought Bordeauxâs Senegal international Lamine Sane is also still on Cityâs shortlist, and there have been strong rumours Dalman made a £4m offer. The French club are desperate to hold on to their man, offering him a new deal and the club captaincy, but Cardiff are not ruling out the giant defender just yet. The Bluebirds are confident they will add a centre-back to their squad in time, although the transfer may not be completed before for this Saturdayâs Championship match at Fulham. Dalman remains tight-lipped on the identity of Cardiffâs number one target, only revealing he is an experienced international defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and could slot into Cityâs back four alongside Sean Morrison."
I bet, Hudson, Turner, Cala and Conolley are happy then ! i really do not see the need for another CB
agree, we don't need a new CB, let alone a £4m one. we have 4 specialist centre backs plus connelly. the wage bill at this club must be astronomical, surely we need to ship out 5 players at least, before the window closes?
Some need to go if only to get regular first team football. However, the wage bill is not what it was with Medel, Caulker, Campbell and Mutch gone. They were our big earners and those coming in won't be on half of the outgoing players even with the parachute payment giving us some flexibility.
Here he is then............... http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...cardiff-city-beat-arsenal-southampton-7696807 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/cardiff-city EDIT.....always looked like it was Huds who was making the space for him - especially as he wasn't even on the bench yesterday. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
Yet another centre back when we are in desperate need of a player to spark our midfield. This is a strange signing as our defence has been the best part of our team.
I think Hudson could do a good job at Fulham, they are a young side his old head and captaining ability should suit them. I'd be gutted, to lose him but no sentiment in football.
Complete and utter madness. We have more than enough in this position. We should be getting rid of some of our midfield and recruiting there not spending £5m on a centre half. The League should be looking at our spending. Over £100m in debt and splashing out on signings like this. Hope hes worth it.
Roma, Arsenal now he's moving to the championship! Seems a little odd, who's he replacing? Connolly has been our best defender in the games I've seen but surely Morrison has been bought to be first choice.
Hudson and Cala are rumoured to be on the way out. This will be an excellent signing and we wont need to buy another C/B when we go up this season.
A lot of money for a championship player, especially a CB. We desperately need to trim the squad, not just for the wage bill, but so we can see the wood for the trees.
It will be a lot if we don't go up but if it pays off and he is as good enough for the prem then we have a C/B for a decent price. I never worry about the wage bill, i'm not paying it but we could do with letting a few out on loan.
i'd keep him, i know theres no sentiment but he's a great dressing room influence and is ideally suited to coming in and playing say 30 games a season due to his experience and organisation. there's no need for another CB. he's known for some time what options we have at centre back, why go for a very expensive one now? desperation!
Thing is, because Connolly can cover Full Back as well as CB, can't see Hudson getting a place on the bench either. I though we were OK at CB anyway, before we signed Morrison. However could be a shrewd move if we are promoted.
