If everyone was struck down with food poisoning, I'm not sure the second eleven would be any more fit to play than the first!

Bah!

P.s. The squad does look to have real depth when you see it like that, more so than most if not all of our championship competitor's

Here's the line up that started the Ipswich match:

Ruddy
Martin - Turner - Bennett - Garrido
Tettey - Johnson
Lafferty - Wes - Redmond
Grabban

And if everyone was struck down with food poisoning then we could play this:

Rudd
Whitaker - Cuellar - McFadden - Olsson
Vadis - O'Neil
E Bennett - Howson - Murphy
Hooper

Both are very strong teams in fact arguably the second is stronger. After the international break the team selection is going to become very difficult. But it's good to see our squad has competition for every place. Another CB might be necessary however if the window shut now I'd be very happy.

We'd have the option of McGrandles now too. Definitely some decent depth in our squad for this season!! And we'll need it with the number of games we'll play. Not to mention two excellent cup runs to come <whistle>

Your second team doesn't include Surman, McGrantles, Jerome, Loza, Jacob Murphy, Gafaiti, or Becchio either, which isn't a bad bench as well.

In what way are you not convinced by Grabban?

He has done it at this level before and he has scored 4 goals in what 3 or 4 appearances including match winning goals. What else does he need to do in your eyes for you to be convinced?

I'm not having a pop, just a straight up question.

The worst thing would be if he got injured.

I'm not saying that I'm disappointed with him, just as others have said he's missed as few chances, easy chances, all his goals have had an element of fortune with them & in tight games with few chances I'm worried about his conversion rate.
But I hope he keeps on improving & I'm worrying about nothing.

I kinda see where you're coming from, but he's proven at this level. If you're a striker your main job is to score goals. And he's doing that so I'm happy.

Don't forget he's still getting used to a squad being assembled / tweaked all around him. Once this infernal window closes, there should be a more established first eleven and the understanding between them should develop and grow <ok>

Against Ipswich, he had 4 chances I can remember. One he scored with a clever header, the second was an ambitious attempted chip over the keeper which went just over, the third was a vicious volley on target in the bottom left corner brilliantly saved by the keeper, and the fourth was spoiled by a heavy touch that forced him wide. I wouldn't be overly critical of that.

It's a long season, there is always one team in this league that peaks too quickly in the race and there is usually another team lurking in no-mans land who suddenly come in from nowhere like we did back in 2010/11, I've also seen teams just run away at the top and put as much space between them and the rest of the pack Leicester done a good job of that and I remember Fulham doing it in the past, you need momentum to do that.

Having seen just the goals and the Ipswich game, Grabban seems really hard to call. He has the knack of getting into scoring positions, which is a real skill for a forward, but his first touch looks very iffy and he almost fluffed up the penalty and the gimme that Murphy gave him. Can't argue with 4 from 4, but he does seem profligate.

Like you, I hope I'm worrying over nothing and his ability to get into the right places at the right time trumps his occasional poor first touch.

Remy's gone to Chelsea for £10.5m it would appear, so QPR may well step up their interest in Hooper now.
