Well, they've won most of their games (lost only one?) both pre- and real season. However, I'd question the quality of the teams they've played thus far. We'll be the toughest team they'll have played by quite some margin. I'll see how they play against us, and then reserve judgement until they've played every team once.
Though Spurs have started well weaknesses are clear to see in their team. Lamela was all over the place with his positioning, leaving his spot on the right empty a lot, and RB Dier likes to go for a run to. If we can get Sterling in behind them we could be in. Markovic could then give Rose a tough game on the other side. Or Sturridge could play from the right and try drag him inside. Then we can get Manquillo down that wing and Balotelli's head on those crosses. The midfield battle will be tough for both teams.
Tottenham have had a fairly easy start of it so far. A fortunate win over the hammers, a thrashing of relegation fodder QPR and a couple of easy wins over some Cypriot team no one has ever heard of. I think the press are bigging them up and it will be interesting to see how they do. Don't see it being another 5-0 but will take any kind of win. Even a draw would be ok but we don't play for draws .
I agree, although I thought they were dogmuck away against the Cypriot team. They deserved nothing from their first half performance.
We can definitely exploit the space behind their full backs - Rose and Dier. I hope Moreno is fit, Manquillo and Sakho start - then hopefully they will keep Johnson and Skrtel out of the team. would also like to Mario start - we play a lot better with 2 strikers, or when DS has a partner.
I agree with everything . . . except the Skrtel bit. He's our best CB. He does split our fans, though, doesn't he?
I think LFc had one bad result and one lucky result so far. We need to up our game for tottenham.. thats all there is to be said... we need to up the intensity and work rate all round.
If it wasn't for Pulis, they would be. To go 6 points behind at such an early stage isn't good and they are on a high and could quite easily go on a good run of form, did us the world of good last season. Like I said though, Tottenham away is probably the 6th hardest fixture of the season, we would do well to get anything. After last seasons thrashing of spurs, I think they'll be looking to right that. Therefore as I said 2-0 to spurs.
palace an example of making a right change. holloway admitted himself that he was not right. contrast to norwich who back hughton with money got nowhere then left him in to waste january and every chance of survival. or fulham..... Tottenham are being underestimated by many. i agree with you. we need to be on our game to get anything just cos moe players are declared fit doesnt mean the issues in cm go away......
Rodgers said "We'll see closer to the game" On injuries. Johnson is definitely out, Moreno twisted his ankle, but not giving any confirmation on who is not fit.
They will of course be looking to right it, but in the back of their mind (and their supporters) they will be nervous as we ripped them a new one last time. We need to get in their faces early as we always do and get that early goal - I think they could fold like last time if we do.
