Ultimately it was his work rate I believe poch had an issue with and I can understand that with his approach. I believe he is a creative player and we lack in this area so if he goes we need another. Tadic alone is not enough.
I know he's not shown consistency but can't help thinking if we sell Gaston he could be to us what Diego Forlan was to manure. Forlan wasn't great for Man U but I think he thrived when he then went to Spain. Maybe Gaston will never fit our style but what is our style now? I would really like him to get another year but if he still doesn't get a regular place in the 11 I can't see it making much difference if he stays or goes.
Yep, Man Utd only managed to win a champions league and god knows how many other trophies without Forlan. So hopefully Gaston leaving will have the same effect on Saints! We have played three games under Koeman. Do we have to have a pigeon-holed "style" ?? The two styles that I like the best are "entertaining" & "winning".
Unfortunately, no matter how much I wanted him to be brilliant and a great success, he hasn't been. If he is going out on loan and plays well, that at least his value will increase, although maybe not enough to compensate for the shorter contract length.
I'm with CBK. I don't get all the patience people have for the guy. He has had his chances, disappointed and yet still everybody says he is what we need. I don't get it. As for £10m??? I don't think anyone wants to pay that much for him. TBH I think that he is probably only getting on the bench in case of desperation from the manager or if we need to put 2/3 midfield or attacking players on. If we need an attacking midfielder Davis or JWP is going to be moved into that position and Long put on wide. Gaston is well down the pecking order.
Someone on twitter claiming that Gaston is on £68k a week at Saints. please log in to view this image
That was the gist when he joined us but that is taking the net wage and adding on taxes and NI etc. PEople earning that amount of money won't be paying taxes and NI as simply at the standard bands once club accountants and player accountants get their heads together.
Don't see much of a difference between him and Cork. IMO, both are good but not essential players. I think Ramirez has more upside if you wish to gamble but because of his constant injury issues, Cork is more useful as a role player. If Koeman wants to keep one or both that's fine with me. If he wants to move either one on that's fine with me, too. And I wouldn't feel any illwill towards either player if they go.
That's it in a nutshell. There's something special there, his little touches and lay offs into space have shown hints of real genius. It's looking like we'll never see that blossom at Saints, which is a real shame in my eyes.
"little" being the operative word here. I used to show "little" moments of talent when I played, unfortunately it was backed up with 95% dross & frankly, lack of effort on my behalf. If only I had some fans on the internet fighting my corner for me. Oh well.
I appreciate all your support. Remember, CBK autographs are now at the knock-down-price of only £49.99 !!
Now you already know I am a sucker for paying stuff towards my heroes; that's a penny cheaper than my classy shirt.
Report off of NewsNow saying that a loan deal to Sevilla is complete Sevilla will pay a "significant" part of his wages and will have an option to buy at the end of the season for £4.8m Good grief
Haha this window getting funnier/worse by the day. We have 2 midfielders who could potentially create things for our strikers, Tadic (who has looked good so far, but it is very early days) and Ramirez (who has looked poor mixed with the odd flash of brilliance), and we are loaning one out? Sign Townsend or Redmond to cap off a job well done.
