"Liverpool, despite spending £117m, aren't going to challenge for the title. Even though they are spending, they still haven't got a leader at the back - they need to get one." (Robbie Savage, commentating on BBC Radio 5)
I hate Savage but at least he's got the consistency to troll Liverpool all like the pundits trolled us about our spending last season. The rest will remain suspiciously silent on the matter if Liverpool don't do well this season.
Personally, I thought it fairly obvious that Liverpool's defence was nowhere near good enough to sustain a title challenge. Especially given the loss of Hannibal, who at least managed to paper over the cracks last year.
The worst offenders will be Richard Keys and Mark Saggers (on TalkShite). They'll never admit that 'Pool are utter ****e. They're both living off 'Pool's glory years from the 70s, and don't seem to understand that football has moved on since then.
I love the way that people are jumping on Liverpool now for "doing a Tottenham" and spending the Suarez money on more than a direct replacement. They were all claiming that this wasn't what was going on last week, but they lose one game and it's all changed! Laughable reporting. Who exactly could they have signed that would've been good enough and would've joined the club? Who's available, fits into their wage budget and would instantly fill that Ol' Bitey sized hole? It's all well and good saying what they should have done, but any suggestions are either unrealistic, unworkable or just not up to it, in my opinion.
The Poool face exactly the same problem. Loss of a big player. Money spent to try and increase the strength across the squad. Several new players in. Get them up and running while not losing ground to the league leaders. Join the club, mate.
Would be great but I think it's still very hard to predict. I think we can be sure it will be a great game though
Liverpool will have balotelli, sturridge and sterling for this game so regardless of their form I'm not going to expect a win as we where lucky to beat west ham and then lucky QPR never showed up, but you need luck to win the title.
For those on Twitter, this is how we beat Liverpool https://twitter.com/RealBristolSpur/status/504001358484475904/photo/1
Repeating last season will be extremely hard. Compounded by the loss of Luis. But I think Brendan has bought fairly well. Going to take a while to hit the form of last season. Had Man City away at the wrong time, (if there is a right time that is.) Think you guys have got us at a good time, you are home and on the back of a good win. Can see you wanting revenge for last year. Will be an interesting game thats for sure
I'm a bit concerned about Balotelli as I was in the England v Italy match because he once played in England and felt he would score against us which he did. Now there are parallels between England and Spurs which is why I'm concerned about him.
I've already got him, but i haven't jinxed him so far. I've jinxed Eriksen though, so i might take him out.
