I reckon you need a Matic type DM far more then a Vidal type. Someone to shield the back 4 and allowing Herrera to attack.

No but chance creation stats and assist stats do show how creative a player is.

Also if stats are not important. Why do managers find them very important? Seems like a fan made myth that they are not.

I would have de jong over fab right now. Fab is to slow and offers no protection. De jong is slow but offers protection.

If you compare both Di Maria + Fabregas time in spain, Fabregas has had more assists and goals. Some nice stats there <whistle>

Does he. Sky sports and opta disagree on that one.

Checked assists and fab is behind.

Probably ahead on goals considering he played as a false 9 at times.

De Jong would be a good stop gap. But as you say he's slow - so up against fast counter attacking teams (like Liverpool!) he'd struggle imo.

But for games like yesterday and the Swansea game he would have been ideal.

They dont need to be fast if they are smart and protect tge defence. Fab is neither fast or intelligent. Same as gerrard for you guys.

Matic is slow but he doesn't seem to have a problem with counter attacking teams. Don't buy this slow thing tbh.

Been a big shift in the last 12 months with the type of players we're targeting. Herrera, Di Maria and Mata are all intelligent players, not like Fellaini, Valencia, Young etc.
