Only time will tell but think Tiote's natural game was always suited to the Prem.

    Is this a troll?

I am confused by all of this...

Gardner is simply not the type of player we should be going for. The only players that you would go for from Birmingham are the central defenders and GK.

That makes no sense. Does that mean when you got relegated teams shouldn't have went for Barton, Nolan, Jonas or Enrique as they were not good enough to save you from relegation.

I'm more bothered about the fact that Whickam is due to have a medical at Sunderland today!

....and we'll take the players that couldn't save West Ham from relegation.

Yes that's exactly right. Barton was absolutely shocking and had only scored two goals for us in two seasons and after that bloody Liverpool game we thought he'd played his last for us. Nolan couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo and scored his first goal for us in the Championship. Enrique was alright, but he couldn't pass or cross half as well as he does now. So in general, I would've been quite surprised if any one came in for them. The half decent players like Beye, Bassong and Martins got snapped up straight away.

This. Can't really slag off Gardner (Brum's top goal scorer) because his team got relegated and at the same time take Demba Ba because he was brilliant and was just in a bad West Ham side.
I think Gardner will be a good signing for The Others, always seemed committed for Brum, got goals and I think would have been an ideal replacement for Nolan. If we play the same way as we did last season, I think Nolan left partly because he wasn't going to get as many goals in the formation we play this season. Good signing for them, decent back up if he came to us.

Has Pards not still got one eye on Ireland as a bit of cheap, potentially decent quality, cover for midfield up front? think I read we were looking to shell £2 Million for him if McLeish (<laugh> still can't believe Villa plumped for him) doesn't want him?

Think I'd prefer Gardner, he's got age on his side over Ireland, he's also less of a mentalist than Ireland as well.

Wickham and Gardner are both excellent signings for the mackems.

Fair play to the giant, red-face of Steve Bruce

That may be so, but seems Gardners gone to the dark side so that's a fairly moot point ..

  15. One of the most successful passers in his own league last season, highly rated, from a Champions League club.

I'd still take him over Gardner, despite the fact that Gardner is premier league proven.

I understand it might have been hypocritical of me to say that about Birmingham, but I don't take back what I said, seeing as it was West Ham's defence that caused them to go down, and it was Birmingham's toothless attack that got them relegated. Plus, I am at best cautiously optimistic about Ba, and in this thread or another one I actually commended Sunderland for their signings so far, saying that they are filling the gaps in their set-up, just as we're also doing a good job so far this window.
