Let's take a moment to think about all the signings we've made during this transfer season. They've all been absolutely top draw for a team just promoted to this league. I would even say that we're by far the team who has done the best business during the window in the whole league, relative to our position and status.
I'm finding it hard not to get carried away after these excellent signings. Still, we thought we had a good squad last time round. Here's hoping that it's different this time.
I'm absolutely thrilled with the quality and intent of the signings. I want the window shut now to stop anyone leaving though. I've also seen teams sign very modestly and do well and... erm... us sign quality and fall flat. This feels different and better than last time but getting a first win ASAP is all important IMO.
Thats a very good point - we were all delighted with our last lot of Premier League signings. But I think this time it is actually very good news, and good business. Just over £20m very well spent!
Jimmy, take it easy lad. When R's fans get excited like that it usually blows up in their faces. We're 11th on the SSN spending table this window at £22m. Palace are bottom with under £2m and Burnley second bottom having spent just £3m. 3rd bottom are Stoke on £3.4m, then Leicester and Villa on £7m, followed by W Brom at £12m. S'land are 14th at £12.5m with Spurs next up on £20m. Then its Hull with £21.35m spent followed by us just under the Swans who've splashed out £23.5 million squid.
Groundhog Day. No more exciting than the summer of 2012, then we ended up with a lot of potentially very good players but no team. Hopefully better outcome this time round.
I will be a lot happier once we have won a few games. Get the demons of the last premier season well and truly out of our system
I kinda hope that's it now though. Fantastic window for us but let's maintain some of that hard-earned team spirit.
The important questions for me are when are we going to get our first goal? And our first point? As has been said we were equally ecstatic if not more so last time around. We need to find a settled team and to do well against our peer group which hopefully is the bunch of 12 outside of the top seven. Then we can slap ourselves on the back.
please log in to view this image Oh god, I remember that word. After every loss there was a crowd who said we just needed to 'gel'(myself included), yet the numbers slowly dwindled as weeks went by... What a horrific season. You're right of course- but hopefully we won't be saying it too much this time. Did we ever decide how many games were required for gelling in the end?
I think it's very different from then. Of course, these players don't guarantee that we'll stay up. But the attitude within the club is totally different and the morale and rapport there is a lot better. It's completely evident and anyone can see how different things are compared to then.
NUFC fan in peace. I have a QPR mad stepdad and have been to Loftus many times. Definatly think Mutch, Caulker and Fer could keep you up. Keep Remy and I reckon you will solidify in the Prem. Still not sure Harry is the best shout but hey, he got you back up. All the best for hopefully a relegation battle free season!
Yes, we have managed some very good signings and all that is missing is our first win. Naturally, the sooner we can snare that win, the better it will be for the team and us fans. My only real concern is when that first win comes ..................... we don't want to be three or four games down and still on zip. Player confidence is everything, regardless of how good the signings are. Let us suffer no further losses in the very short term and I'm thinking the team may very well take off on a good run. Let's hope so.
Patience, patience and more patience. We were all very excited with the first lot though there is a significantly different feel about this whole thing. I am going to allow myself some cautious optimism!
