Firstly, What a week so far!!! Buzzing for the binners game. Think weve a good chance if we can continue our current form!!!

Right, now the rant. Whilst I can see why some people have an issue with poor Redmond I think he is getting far, far too much stick after last night. I thought he was a threat nearly every time he was involved and actually DID put in some very good crosses! He didnt help himself in the 2nd half by beating his man and crossing into the N&P lower but unfortunately, that is what people will remember after what was a reasonably good performance.

I would suggest that actually he was crossing into decent areas and we just had no1 attacking the ball.

This leads me on to my point about corners. We are not the biggest of sides but I was fuming every time we had a corner and the blackburn defence were comletely unchallenged with their clearances each and every time until Ryan Bennett came on. Players just werent attacking the ball at all and it was all too easy to defend.

Now these are minor gripes from an otherwise very good performance so please dont label me as a "moaner" because I am not one. My point is that it is easy to lambast a winger for not dropping the ball on the strikers head every time but some blame has to go to the other players who should be getting themselves in the box other to get in the end of crosses.

Redmond is very young still. Dont forget that Walcott was terrible for a couple of seasons but made a huge improvement in a short space of time as he matured a bit. The same could be said for...dare I say it... Cristiano Ronaldo. Awful couple of seasons at United and then BAM...most expensive player in the world. Redmond wont get to THAT level but he WILL improve so give him a chance guys n girls!
 
Perhaps if he raises his arm before he takes the corner his accuracy might improve - worked for Snoddy (some of the time !)

He's a talent - a young talent. He will improve with experience - he needs to be given time and not have unnecessary pressure put on him by the weight of expectation.
 
With you on both points Bedford. First half we could have taken 100 corners but not have scored. Second half having Bennett and Turner in the box made us look very threatening, we hit the crossbar and forced a great save from Robinson. I really want to see Turner and Bennett start at the Portaloo.
 
Young wingers inability to cross is almost part of their DNA. Walcott is mentioned above but the same goes for Lennon and our own Murphy as well. Add to that Oxlaid-Chamberlain and Townsend and you pretty much have a full house. Ronaldo in his early days at Man U was just a show pony doing leg-overs all the time but as has been said he improved considerably. in a couple of years Redmond could be very very good, at present he is dangerous but unpredictable.
 
Fully agree with the heading from corners, until Bennett came on I don't think we won a single one form our own or while defending! I really think Russ just has to accept he is our best RB and Bennett and Turner are the best pairing at CB.
 
I think the Redmond stick is a bit unfair. He is always a threat for us and provides excitement, his crossing isn't the best, as others have said but he will develop and hopefully this will improve.

I still would prefer to see him on the right wing where he looks far more dangerous

Tad unfair. He may have been a bit frisky, but no more than your average 18 year old..
 
redmond was most certainly NOT crossing the ball into good areas!

his delivery was atrocious each and every time. i feel a bit sorry for the lad. i feel he knows himself that he isn't producing and is trying a bit too hard to please. i'd like to see him either start on the right or have a short spell on the bench. i think his head is going down at the moment. he probably just needs a bit of luck to get it back, maybe a goal or an assist or even a great run followed by a great cross to kick start him.

Some good points Supers. In some ways, his winning goal against Saints was part of his undoing I feel and he is too often going for goal himself rather than trying to pick out a team-mate. I agree, a spell on the bench could be just what he needs and I'm sure Josh could occasionally start against some of the less fancied teams. Time will tell and I trust NA to make the right decisions.

Is our club (manager and fans) putting too much pressure on him to produce?
