Heard from a Liverpool fan tonight that the reason that they blanked him was nothing to do with fitness but the fact that the Crown Prosecution Service file on him for the rape charge is still open. Would also explain lack of interest in this bargain buy from other clubs. Probably balls, but any knowledge out there?
I've wondered the same thing myself. His original court appearance was meant to be September last year but it's been barely mentioned since before then. My only reassurance is from the idle and overzealous news hounds - I'd have expected them to be all over it during the speculation fuelled Summer months if there's still ongoing issues.

Some interesting reactions to something I posted as 'probably balls'. I'm still curious to know why they decided not to go ahead with Remy. I suppose either their medical standards are more stringent than ours, Newcastle's, France's and Marseilles'; or they decided there were better strikers available (Bony seems to be their target now, but will cost them a lot more); or his personal demands were too much (not sure on this, given what they pay Gerrard); or they found something out about him they didn't like.

If all the press guff was true, then Remy was out in the states having a medical at the same time as their squad were out there on tour. Maybe they had a look at him with Sturridge during a training session and decided that they were too similar? Whatever the reason I hope it works out for us. I also really hope the wheels fall off for Liverpool...never liked Liverpool and it's even easier to dislike them with Rodgers in charge!
Apparently Balloteli is in talks with Liverpool. I wonder if that is why they dropped the Remy transfer? If it is they're as mad as the player they're looking to sign.
28/1 to 2/1 for Remy to sign for Chelsea now? Surely not. I thought they couldn't have any more foreign players anyway? We have made some great signings this transfer window but the best thing to happen to Rangers will be if Remy stays. 10 days to go........

I think the whole rumour with Chelsea came from Drogba getting injured. He is fit now though - played against Burnley on Monday. So hopefully that means their rumoured interest has faded.

Of course he will go! At £8.5 million for a club with champions league matches - his aim for the season don't forget - he's too cheap not to go. Vargas is his replacement. The only way he will stay is if Stan is right and there really is a skeleton in the cupboard....
Don't forget his wages are high and they would have to at least match them. My worry is Torres looks to be leaving so this may have legs.
