These are the moments to savour, the few short sweet days when we can dream we're getting a world-beater before they have kicked a ball for us and reality sets in to spoil the illusion of greatness. Enjoy
As far as I'm aware yes, but I'm wondering whether the plan was always either Remy or him, not both. The interest has not been formally closed out, but I've not heard anything for a while on it.
That's actually a good post/point Uber. In this age of internet immediacy we expect our club charges to deliver. Whatever our age and experience of following the R's we still get excited at any signing however tenuous. Regardless of whether we know or have heard of the player we maybe signing, we all secretly hope that he can hit the ground running. However, with the examples you have posted this is more often than not the case. Sometimes the fields of diamonds lay beneath your feet.
Not sure any of the examples that Uber gave scored in a World Cup against Spain though. I think he's a class above those players tbh.
Maybe we should go back to the 70s (and beyond) to when there was only one sub on the bench and the first team squad numbered about 16.
If you thrown in average (old) First Division wages of about £50k (current terms) A YEAR and disinventing the internet, lets get the flux capacitor ready, back to the future!
I'm not disagreeing with you, Col, but just making the point that a reputation and the reality can be quite different, and that bringing in a forward because you need a forward isn't necessarily a solution to a problem. We all hope that Fartgas signs and proves to be a great success.
Presumably, with Remy a certain starter if he stays and OBZ a certain substitute, this sets up a battle between Austin and Vargas for the second striker spot. Excellent, can't remember when we last had competition for striker places.
Harry mentioned the other day that Vargas can play the no 10 role, so behind the strikers. Perhaps he is looking at playing all 3 (Remy, Austin, Vargas).
The Vargas & Isla deals reminds me of the Teves Masherano deal for West Ham, shop window for a season.
Hmm, he's not my idea of a classic number 10, more a speed and aggression merchant. All three would be good though, Mutch instead of Barton alongside Faurlin, Isla and Yun wing backs perm any 3 from 4 as CBs, I'm happy.
