Am I missing something - what is special about Deeney that is worth more then the max £5M I value him at (and that is being very generous)?
I think he's fantastic- better than Ulloa. If you bought him I'd immediately fear your team a lot more
Not sure how to take this post tbh Grifter. I for one ain´t got a clue about him or even who he is, I ain´t been bothered to wiki or youtube him. 10 mil ? umm ! I hope we ain´t getting abit silly with the readies, saying that it ain´t my money I guess. Just wondering how many more times I´m going to type ain´t in this post ? Any way, the old saying goes "in Nigel I trust", or some thing like that, So I guess we´ll 1st have to see how it pans out. He ain´t signed yet so there´s a long way to go ( in terms of negotiation). What bothers me is, what will happen to Vardy ?
Oooh grifter so controversial! What odds if we actually wanted him you'd be telling us how bad he is but coz we don't want him
Well Vardy is yet to sign a contract? So perhaps some truth in the Southampton rumor?Find it hard to accept Deeney is worth 5 times the value of Wood.
Controversial suggesting a guy who scored 24 championship goals last season (and 19 the season before), is better than someone who scored 14? You do want him- you've already made bids for him. Why do I know more about Leicester than you do? Relax with the conspiracy theories John, I've always thought he's great. Said as much on the Watford board please log in to view this image
Did Deeney take pens for Watford Grif? I have no idea and just wondered as if he got a few from them you could argue there isn't much in it but only a thought btw and they're different types of striker. And anyway, I'm not having a go, more of a dig as I suspect you may be winding us up as we don't want him. I'd sooner see a couple of reinforcements in midfield and in defence as we have some strikers who can score if given good service
Ulloa missed a large portion of last season, so would have scored more. Deeney scored so many because he was pretty much played up front alone (no other striker made 20 appearances, nor any other Watford player scored double figures) and scored a lot of tap-ins and penalties. At Watford, Deeney was surrounded by good creative players, but at Brighton, Ulloa was often the man that made this tick. I'm not saying Deeney is rubbish (although he's certainly not worth £10m) - he still put 24 goals away last season - but I think we have better already and I personally wouldn't want Deeney because he's a thug.
... it's a buyer's market particularly where goalscorers are concerned ... they are a priceless commodity and he is a pretty good striker ... mind you the mad market is not confined to strikers ... I seem to recall one particular bunch of numpties desperately splashing out £12 million one year for a big lump of a centre half named Rumba (or some other Latin-american dance) ... as if that was ever going to keep them in the Prem eh? ... still you can't beat that good old chestnut about how much it counts to have had 'previous prem experience' either as a manager or player to fill you with confidence for the coming season eh?
All memories of Deeney's goal was banished when Knockaert smashed one in at their place And then we had a moment of our own with Drinkwater
I wish it was that easy Proud. That sad, Essandoh's goal was more damaging. Deeney only set us back a year. We didn't recover from Roy's goal until...well, now!
