RE SWP, dont understand the "shop window" argument, as it should be far more important to get our best 11 working well together. So why did he get the full 90 ? Totally stumped, looked good making himself available, some nice runs, good dribbling....but, no delivery, no end product ? Whats the point ? Either that or just not fit enough ? Treating him with kid gloves ? Either quite feasible ???
Thanks for the report WL - a rather depressing read given the squad we fielded - only a week left now for further training, player conditioning and squad fine tuning. I note the mention of a "sparse" crowd - if living in the neighbourhood I would have certainly jumped at the opportunity to see the team in action. Perhaps many people are still away on summer holidays - I am, in a rented cottage beside the ocean away from the hustle & bustle of normal life, but no wi-fi access, although my ISP has now kindly provided me with a couple of months of free unlimited data, after I chewed up a 60MB data pack in just 2 days (with no streaming, just browsing web pages) which really helps staying in touch.
It is very hard to know KPD, the fact that he hasn't even been on the bench once all pre season surely means that he is pretty unlikely to feature against Hull, wouldn't you say?
Sparse crowd but not bad for a friendly especially as there were players missing/unable to play. SWP did well and did get crosses in. Tracked back well and got tackles in there is just something missing. Simpson was frustrating to watch today as offered little going forward and made errors in positioning. Phillips did well when he came on and offered a more direct approach than Simpson. Can see why the Chile an lad was brought in. Not sure what his ideal first team is yet as the game was disjointed after substitites, I think Rio, caulker and chief will be a solid base on today's individual displays. If this is our last game then have concerns then again it wouldn't be the QPR way.
Agree regarding swp, not sure what it is with him but you always feel he's lacking something. Not sure if it's just because he never looks like he wants it enough or whatever, just seems strange to me. Coupled with no real end product and it's easy to see why he's made a scapegoat a lot of the time. Simpson is simply not a wing back in my book. Vital to us as a right back but im unsure if the new system is going to suit him. Time will tell I guess. Pleased Phillips did well, he's another one who I think the system wont suit which is a shame; I generally feel when fully fit he's one of our best players. Direct and pacey, exactly what we need. The 3-5-2 system will become an interesting topic when the season starts as I feel a lot of players who could prove vital to us (Simpson, Hoilett, Phillips) simply don't suit it, will be interesting to see if they can adapt if the system proves effective, or if we revert back to previous formations if it's not going so well.
In all the joy of wembley - I forgot about the constantly changing formations with the players not knowing where they are supposed to be.......
Finished 2-1 to the Tractor Boys. Pretty football from Foolham, but they have a lot to learn about the Championship.
If that's preparation for a premiership campaign then we could be the laughing stock of football Changing a system needs some sort of compounding Two ways Either he doesn't want to show his hand on the new system or he simply honestly is lost as a manager
I normally rely on wi-fi access for any internet browsing on my mobile so do not have a data plan, just have talk & text for $15/mth versus $60/mth for two of my kids away at university. My Rogers smartphone, an HTC Magic was purchased for only $35 on eBay from a lady in Texas who only used it when visiting Canada, so it is like brand new with all the accessories. On a tight family budget the nice toys go the kids (5 of them - all girls), rather than myself. Since I have home internet, cable TV, home phone and 3 mobiles with Rogers Communications they are pretty good at handing out a few freebies when I am away on vacation for 3 weeks with no wi-fi (available at library for my laptop 20 mins away). So they gave me unlimited data for 2 mths on my mobile that enables me to talk to you whilst sitting on a beautiful beach by the ocean.

I think most data pack in UK start at around 512mb even on a Pay as you go plan. Oh Canada! Ebay is great isn't it. I just found a second hand leg advertised with 10% off, I'm not joking. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-W...384?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c7e94ca68 Enjoy the beach.
I just got a huge surprise when I looked at my latest Rogers bill for mobile service. One of my daughters is currently visiting university friends in Morocco and I told her whilst there to only use text messaging and wi-fi for internet browsing. Well her usual $60 bill (that I pay) is $397, a big chunk of that from back in July using voice (100 mins) whilst planning her trip talking from Canada to Morocco at $1.95/min - with a $5 international calling plan that would have been $0.45/min ($150 saved) - still stupid of her when you can use Skype to chat for free from your computer or mobile. Now in Morocco since Aug 2nd she had not switched off her roaming on her iPhone and was accumulating a $10/day roaming charge for just 3MB of data - she switched it off now. So not having a data plan, as on my phone, you do not fall into these pitfalls as it is either wi-fi access or nothing.
Good old WiFi. Am on a Greyhound bus in the Canadian Rockies following threads. Connection is good enough for that though maybe I should be taking in the amazing scenery more and reading posts exposing SWPs 90 minutes a bit less! Got my ticket for Hull game. Can't wait!
Hope you are having a great trip through the Rockies - I have done that a few times myself when I lived in BC in the mid 70's. Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper are interesting places - you likely saw a few mountain goats/sheep by the roadside? Yes, if you can make do with talk & text plus wi-fi when available you get no data overage or roaming surprises. I do just fine with my older HTC Magic $35 smartphone. Here in Canada they give you a nice "free" cell phone, then soak you on data charges for the next 3 years (recently changed to max 2 yrs, so to get their money back on the phone, the former $60/mth plan is now $80/mth, whilst my ancient discounted non-data plan is only $15/mth. Hope you enjoy the Hull match and that it turns out better for us than our past Premier league opening day Bolton & Swansea home fiascos.
Thanks, Kilburn. Just spent 2 fantastic weeks in the mountains, hiking more than Grizzly Adams! Just finishing breakfast in Kamloops before getting back onto the Greyhound to Vancouver. Flying back tomorrow.
3 mobiles? 1 for personal, 1 for suppliers and 1 for runners? And I thought you were sponsored by Bet365.........
