Reports from North of the Border that Southampton will sign Fraser Forster this weekend after agreeing deal with Celtic.

Celtic fans I've been chatting to say 10million is too much. Hopefully he turns out to be good. I wonder what Artur has to say about the signing!

26 year old keeper, England International and CL experience. That's the going rate really, could be our starting keeper for the next 7-8 years.

We're going to pay over the odds for most deals, our transfer income has hardly been discreet. It's rising to 10m if clauses are met, so that's fine.

We'd not find someone better for cheaper (without finding some hidden gem, of course). David Marshall would have cost similar.

I'm not going to complain about a signing but spending £10m on a keeper when we already have a great first choice seems a bit odd, especially when you think we've only spent £8m on one striker even though we didn't really have any at the start of the summer.

Forster is a lateral move right now, but there's the potential to be a trade up, and it was either we replace Boruc now or at the end of the year. Kind of makes sense to do it now, when we're rebuilding the entire team.

Are you familiar with our backup keepers?

I don't want to seem too radical, but maybe we could have brought a reliable back up option on loan or on a free? I'm sure there are loads of them better than Gazzaniga.

But we would need to replace Boruc soon enough, so probably better to do it sooner.

This is Boruc's last season with us, it makes sense to bring in a long term replacement now rather than having a panic next summer
