I'd be a bit embarrassed if Saints got plowed 6-1 and went through on a technicality.
It really is quite an astonishing double standard given the fine handed out to Debrecen a few years back though. Anyone would think that Celtic were a bigger TV draw than Warsaw or maybe I'm just being cynical.
They knocked Wigan out didn't they?
As I said earlier, that's not a double standard. Debrecen's was for fielding an unregistered player, who could have been eligible to play had they just done the necessary paperwork.
Harshly or not, they've simply gone by the rulebook.
Didn't see that Joe. There's a different rule for unregistered and ineligible then?
I'm going to be honest here, and nobody is to blame so don't get your knickers in a twist. These threads ****ing bore me to tears. I leave it for half an hour and check back to see if there is any progress and it's the same thing; people talking about van Dijk or how they would be happy with Vlaar, how they would fit in about 3 players that only the papers are linking us to like it's Football Manager, the way people obsessed over this Celtic tie like Forster's representatives were standing with a dripping quill waiting for the full time whistle to blow so they could sign the dotted line. Somebody even suggested listening to it on the radio ffs. Celtic lost the tie initially, now they've been granted a place in the next round of qualifying anyway but the fans are saying that this shouldn't change Forster's decision to come to Southampton, begging the question- why were people so hung up on the tie in the first place? Personally I can't wait until the transfer window closes and we're all queueing for pasties under the Northam Stand.
Thanks for your honesty. My advise would be for you not to post on this football forum, on which there is a thread about Fraser Forster. Currently, that said player is employed by Celtic football club, a team from Scotland who were in the Champions League. We have been linked with him for some time, and the press have widely reported that the deal was dependent on Celtic's Champions League progress. As such, it is fair to assume that any discussion on a thread about the signing of this player would contain posts about his current club, their progress, his teammates (one of which is Van Dijk, who we have been linked with), and indeed the Polish side they faced.
Don't get your knickers in a twist, but if you don't want to read it, or in your words are "bored to tears by it", then my advise is simple: Don't post or read this forum.
