You sign contracts and both sides need to respect contracts" "There was a situation when there was so much change... & ended up with half of your starters not really committed to being there" Krueger: "That is an insane risk for any club and especially a club which was already quite thin [in terms of depth] last year" Krueger: "If a few players are disgruntled or maybe not sure about it, you can swallow that up. You can't have half the team" #SaintsFC have not fined Schneiderlin for his tweet: "We're not the kind of club that right off the bat is going to overreact," Krueger said On #SaintsFC's sales, Krueger said: "Every player has gone to an absolutely top club. We've received prices that were above expectations" Krueger: "We are now on a building & not in a reducing phase. You shouldn't, as a club, take everything personally & we didn't" Krueger believes this "summer of pain" at #SaintsFC is unlikely to ever be repeated thanks to the club's complete restructuring Krueger: "We've completely redefined the Southampton way, completely redefined the values & how we want to get to where we want to get" Krueger: "There was no exec board when I arrived. It can't be that if one person gets hit by a bus the club doesn't keep moving forwards" Will post links to the full interview as and when they emerge. Just felt it deserved it's own thread, a fair bit of fresh material from Ralph and thought some may overlook the old thread. Feel free to merge if the mod team disagree. DTLW
I don't think there's really any doubt that they get it. Mistakes have been made, sure, by everyone involved, but it certainly seems like things are calm and we're moving on now.
Okay, I'm going to stick my neck out and say I agree with all of the above from Krueger. Now we need to back it up with actions, create a stable base for this season and then push on again without a cult of personality around one man. Clearly dressing room cliques and commitments to certain individuals have wreaked havoc this summer and that shouldn't be allowed to happen again.
I guess. Feels like we've taken three steps backward since May. Now if we can just take two steps forward, at least the momentum will be carrying us the right way.
It's just football, phrases like that are pathetic, whether used by fans or board members. We sold some footballers for stupid amounts of money. We'll buy some more footballers for a lot of money. Enough of the bullshit.
Nonsense. This summer's been ****ing awful. If he's acknowledging that, it's not bullshit, it's honesty. If you're denying it, you must be on Prozac.
I reckon RK probably agrees with you - that smacks more of a statement from someone addressing the hysteria or meltdown from some sections of the fan vase and media. Like what he's done though which is acknowledge it and move on pretty quickly with no attempt to cause disagreement. In the circumstances good quotes.

So, another statement trying to smooth things out. I wonder when all the negative articles will start to resurface.

Interesting that Morgan was always considered central to the team and was never up for sale. He'd have found out sooner if he hadn't been caught up with the World Cup. Ten million was a derisory offer anyway. Good to hear that he has settled back into training...probably realised that the board meant what they said and were unable to back down anyway once they had gone public and his life wasn't actually destroyed by staying at a club he had been happy at and where he was really wanted. He's also right when he talks about the problem for fans is that they don't know what is going on....we all thrash around seeing conspiracy and total disaster without knowing what the board had to deal with, including troublesome players like Lallana and Lovren who I suspect would be really disruptive. It is clear that KL does not intend to sell the club with talk of feeling her father's presence here. We all saw her increased personal involvement last season. No one lies about stuff like that. We all know life changes, but obviously selling isn't in her immediate plans.
