The point I am making OS is that the standard of opposition would maybe alter the nature of chances available. I would not expect to have such a chance against a PL team. On the other hand all Kane can do is deal with the chances available to him as well as possible and in this case you cannot fault his effort.

Pre season means little to nothing.

I would love to be wrong but I'm pretty sure that Harry Kane isn't and will never be good enough to be a Premier League standard striker.

I find that astonishing tbh. Soldado alone wasted countless far easier chances than that last season. The standard of the opposition makes no difference whatsoever. The standard of the opposition doesnt make the goal any bigger, and it didnt give him any additional time to pick his spot and get his shot off because even if the defenders were stood off a bit they were moments from being on him, or atleast blocking the shot.

    Linkeresque, I'm telling ya <ok>

I'll agree with you that Soldado probably wouldn't of scored from there.

No1 would be more happier than me if Kane turned out to be even half the striker Lineker was, I just can't see him being good enough though <ok>

Kane and that goal remind me of Crouch and his style. Not quite a new Lineker!

Yep. Personally i was looking at more than his hair colour, but thanks for your input.

Edit : tbf, i kind of get what you mean re crouch. It is just how lineker would have taken it tho. Imo.

I think there are plenty who would or have taken an attempt like that and not one that gave me cause to think of Lineker! But with regards the Crouch reference, it's their legs. Just that awkwardness and daddy long leg style! Not a criticism...!

I think Kane has a future in the PL, but I don't see it being with a club aspiring to CL football.

    The touch
    The slightly crouched body position
    The lookup
    The follow through

Are all reminiscent of lineker imo.

Crouch would never have got that shot off btw. Hed have either tried to lay it off, or have faked and waited for the defenders to commit.

I have this strange, unaccustomed giddy feeling. It reminds me of something I felt long ago...I think I used to call it hope. The idea that we have the coach with the right, high energy, Bielsa-ish style for Spurs, and for the players, who begin to resemble a group of 23 and under all-stars, all knocking themselves out to out work the other clubs, give the fans exciting football, and increase their transfer value...allowing us to reload with the next group of great young players at a hefty profit...

Whatever it is, this thing is making me very uncomfortable. I'm sure it will pass once the season starts.

Just to chime in on the whole Kane debate, he used to remind me of Sheringham and still does to some extent, but I've started to notice a stranger comparison.
Every time I see him now I think of Scott Parker, but as a forward. He seems to have the same mentality, focus and dedication.
Ok, neither of them are ever going to be up there in the glamour stakes, but they're both decently skillful and do a good job in their positions.
The hairstyle probably hasn't helped, either! <laugh>

I can remember people writing off Crouch as a top flight striker when we let him go for a paltry £60k to QPR. He probably earns that a week now at Stoke.
If Kane can match his career in 12 years time, then he'll have done some memorable things and changed a fair few minds, too.
He might have pushed his way into contention for a squad place already this season, as we don't have much cover up front.

Well im going to stick my neck on the line and say that come the end of the season, Kane will be regarded as a better player not only than Crouch, but also Lamella <ok>

I am bringing my boys to the match today (it was cheaper than going to MK Dons!) hoping to see a couple of world cup winners for Schalke and hoping for a entertaining match.

You're going to be of those annoying fans that will ignore all the bad with Kane but go on and on anytime he does anything half decent.

    Btw it's Lamela not Lamella.
