Poor old Rickie missed a penalty. It was saved by AC Milan keeper Christian Abbiati in Liverpools 2-0 win. Just noticed the other thread sorry worked late last night
SaintMarv, you'll notice your new thread is merged here. Little late with the news, I'm afraid [12+ hours] though I'm sure you busted a gut to tell us, for which we are thankful. You'll find it mentioned on half-a-dozen other threads since it was first posted around midnight last night. Cheers TSS.
You can tell from his delayed reaction to the miss, that he was thinking about what he was doing, or more like - this is for Liverpool, I haven't missed for ages etc. A very unnatural pen by his standards.
They just don't deserve him: http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/08/03/lambert-twitter-reaction/ Come home Rickie!
I honestly cannot ever remember Lambert looking any cop during pre-season. He does it when it matters though.
I always dreaded the time when Rickie was going to leave, because he was up there with Channon, Paine, Davies, et al. But now he's done it let him go. Personally, I've just about got over it and I merely watch as an interested spectator. Well, at least I'm trying to. He's gone and he ain't coming back.
Lambert only showed great form towards the end of the season, and that could be due to being desperate to get in the WC squad and get a move to Liverpool.
...and the fact that Andy Carroll was back fit - so it became a two 'horse' race. But yeah, I kinda felt gutted that he missed. I've never known any different from GOAL! when he gets a penalty.
The Bindippers giving him real stick on Twitter and forms...how quick the Scouse Scum have turned on our hero SRL
message to all Liverpool fans :- " calm down, calm down, calm down" " if yoooze don't want Rickie, den send im bak"
Semi-related question Who is expected to be our penalty taker at present? Obviously a bit difficult with transfer business still to be done
Like FLT said, there was never a right time. Once he was sold, it became the right time. If that makes sense.
