After seeing United capture their latest player, David de Gea (subject to medical)…it just made me annoyed about how indecisive we are.
Do you guys not feel this?
We are always watching players for years only to never sign them or letting them go under our noses.

The Alverez and Gervinho deals are prime examples. I know we don’t know the truth in reports…but Gervinho was supposed to be a done deal.
What happened with that?

Also don’t we need defenders? I mean if United wanted Cahill, they would of got him by now. We need to stick a finger out and do it.
Spend 15/20m if we have too. If we want him get him.

This what always happens. We indentify a target, go low and stick to it and then sign no one saying we couldn’t find a player of quality to add to the team.
Or jump to our second choice for the money we offered to our first, who most likely will be of lower quality.
I believe we offered 9m in Jan for Samba. If we didn’t need a CB why did we offer? Seems to be try your luck policy to get the man on the cheap.

I would understand if we had no cash.
But everyone over pays to get their man - depends on how much. I mean if we paid 12 million instead of the 10m we are offering for Gervinho would that be that bad?
2m is a lot of money I know. But if it secures the signing, it is not huge looking at the whole transfer.
Regardless if you think the player is good or bad. Samba, Cahill, etc. We need to make out move and pay a tiny bit extra to make sure.

Come on Arsenal, choose and do it!
 
tbh i dont think Arsene has much money to spend,all this nonsense about we have 40m to spend is all bullshit and has been for a few years now,so if i were u i wouldnt expect too much this summer.

I think your right, we have no idea with the finances we have. but would it be out of the question to think we have a minimum of 30m. I mean we must have that at least with all the players sales. I mean how much have we spent in the last few years.
the problem is after years of this how much more can the fans take. It has come to boiling point and we invest in the team to win something instead of paying debts.
 
personally i think we have got around 20m max to spend,and even if we sell cesc for 40m we will only spend half of it and that would be rare for wenger to spend 20m <ok>

I'm sure we have £30 million to spend on players if we wanted too and I dont think if we spent that money on players this summer we would be adding extra to our 'debt'! Bear in mind we are one of only 4 clubs to make a profit in the 2009/10 season and the only team in the top 7 to do so!

I couldnt find this years but i will keep looking unless someone knows where it is - but i'm sure it will show we made a profit this year as well!

We def have money to spend - wenger just choices not to spend it...
 
PNE i disagree a little. I think this year Wenger knows that he has to spend money and improve the team to appease the fans. There is a big voice of discontent growing.

If Bendtner (10m), Denilson (4m), Rosicky (3m), Almunia (Free), and Fabregas (35m) all leave that's 52m in addition to supposedly 30m already there to spend. The problem is it won't all be cash up front, it'll be in staged payments and there it gets tricky.

That's a whopping 82m to spend, and I'd hope Arsene will spend a good 50 of it to bring a few decent players in.

According to your half year results you have net current assets of £62 million. Which means you can spend up to £60 million without taking on extra debt or putting your financial stability at risk. Whether Kronke / the board will actually let Wenger spend that much is anybody's guess, but given that you only managed 4th this season it's a fair bet they will want to spend a good chunk of it, rather than risk Arsenal losing their CL spot and the associated £30-40 million income each year...

The russin Usmonov (or what ever its spelt) said he wants us to spend big cuz in a few years we have the commercial rights/stadium contracts coming back for renewal and if we win a few things the renew/new contracts will be worth a fortune.

Usmanov is a ****, if he takes over our club I will not renew my membership. He is just saying populist bullshit in order to get the fans on side.
 
he won't take over, ever. it is true that spending more than usual this summer is the best option. as long as it doesn't compromise the long-term future of the club i'm all for it.

i'd love a couple of successes over the next couple of years to drive a better price for the contracts coming up for renewal. now is the time to announce Arsenal on the global stage, and Kroenke's marketing department can make it happen after a trophy win.

if Miyaichi gets a call-up, and work permit, soon, and features in a cup run that finishes with a trophy, the Japanese market will go crazy for Arsenal.
 
Winning pays money. Arsenal always take the wrong risks.
We have the money thinking we can buy, but wont cause we might do it with what we have got (win something). Only so many times you can do this over and over.

For example if we brought a CB last season, Samba was our bid I think (regardless of what people think of him). If we paid 12m instead of 9m offered, we could of had cover.
I am not saying we would of won the leauge, but we could of at least finished 3rd. higher up you finish the more money you get. we need to take some risk in the transfer market. not go crazy.

buy a few decent players and sell what we dont need. Just do it once.
might be we keep our better players beacuse of it.

Usmanov is in a great position with great PR team. nobody wanted him and with his lastest story he is winning over fans.
Thing is he didnt put his money where is month is and buy the shares that Lady Nina had. there is a good blog on this subject on the net somewhere.

Those shares were on offer for a while and if he put up the cash he could have forced his way in.
now he cannot, he is making slient Stan/ the board to be the bad guys to get a place on the board. he would grab a place with both hands.

as the 2nd biggest shareholder nothing stopping him from giving wenger a gift for a buy. As a billionaire he could lose 20m and not bat a eye lid.
 
cutting and buying is part and parcel of football. that's what i'd love to see. scrap some of the underperformers, bring in some new faces, and keep it within the budget available.

i just don't want arsenal to go out and shed 50m on one player 35m on another, and then not win anything and end up in a far worse position.

i'm all for trading, and buying things within your budget, just not crazy money.

That&#8217;s all good and I am for that too, but are we doing that?

I think all the fans will be happy if the club shows its trying to improve with some spending and selling.
One decent CB signing like Cahill will lift the fans and the club. Think we would be happy with any change.

Would we break 15m pounds?, I am not sure. Think Cahill would be 17m-20m minimum.

Problem is we can&#8217;t sell our underperformers and our performers want to leave or won&#8217;t commit cause they want some action/success.

I predict no replacement for Cesc and Nasri to play central.
Gervinho to come and play wide left.
A CB... now this is where I think we should spend biggest.
It would be interesting if we sell Gael, would TV play there? - This would free up two CB positions. TV might not be the best going forward but defensively he could play there VS the Stokes of this world.

I wonder how much of this is Wenger and how much is the board.

Dein is missed for his skills in pushing Wenger and getting the deal done. I love Wenger, but is he too indecisive? or not direct enough?
this kind of shows in our play too, not sometimes being cutting edge in the final third.

when I buy something I do a lot of research, over the top sometimes to make sure I get the best thing for my cash.
my wife says that I would never find that perfect fit/item and if it does most of what you need - go for it.

with Gazidis, I am not sure. he seems a puppet to me and does as told and not really a football man.
