Yeah unfortunately that clause if often defeated when the employee sues for wrongful dismissal. It's been pretty much tested in court as only being applicable if the offence is directly related to the job in question.
surely as a footballer, his job is not only to train and play games of football, but to get into the local community and go to schools, hospitals and do his bit like everyone else? how the hell can he not be sacked??
Its pretty sad that we now have another Scottish football club being aware of predators within their staff with nothing being done about it. Mad Vlad Knew
Is he worse than Lee Hughes or Marlon King, who were a lot older than him when they got into trouble ? He has been punished by the courts and so should be able to get on with his life and work. He can be supervised if he trains very young girls or boys. I am not diminishing his offence, but you can go on the Sex Offenders Register if you are 16 and have consensual sex with your 15 year old girlfriend.
I just wondered is there any possibility that Diouf, Goodewillie and Craig Thompson on the one team. Well one team had Diouf and are interested in Goodewillie so they probably get Thomson rather cheaply.
Apart from giving a fat sweaty green & grey beast a much needed wash, what has Diouf done? You could argue the prowling of Torbett was just as bad, if not worse than Thomson. Wouldnt you agree?
The chants from opposition fans are going to be pretty bad as well. Can't see him carrying on. That is going to stay with him for the rest of his life and other clubs and fans won't forget it.
Football fans are not allowed to chant things in Scotland unless they are chants in support of terrorism.
"Can't see him carrying on. That is going to stay with him for the rest of his life and other clubs and fans won't forget it. " Yeah that's true enough - like the player whose child had downs syndrme and was sibjected to chants from a certain group of fans in a local derby. You can't buy class like that.
Thompson obviously needs to transfer to Brazil. When we signed Kleberson in 2003, his missus was only 14 I believe.
AFAIK he can't continue anyway as (I assume) he'd be around the youth team at the training ground canteen. I know the the conviction is against girls as opposed to boys but I'd still expect him to be unable to continue due to the fact it involves minors.
