I firmly believe that the UK should have it.. Solve the dole problem, and put a sense of pride back into the UK. Everyone do their bit... One way to solve the immigrants and dole wallers out. ....................................................... On a more serious note, how wpuld you feel, if your offspring was sent to war/
It just wouldn't work nowadays. People don't have the pride in the country that they used to. People have access to further education more easily than before. The media portrays war zones and conflict more than ever. I wouldn't serve personally. Not a chance. Respect to those who have but that isn't me.
Fight for Queen and Country? Personally I can't stand the ****ing royals and the country doesn't resemble the place I was born. It's not my country, not anymore. Not just immigration and employment but also the rise of the extreme right wing, a culture of fear and a sickening unhappiness in the place. I don't see myself staying in England past the point where I can live comfortably abroad because I quite want to enjoy my life so I feel I have very little vested in the place. No offence meant to anyone, I just don't love this country.
Don't quite know what to say really. I have never been a royalist, yet had to pledge, my bollocks...what a crock of ****e... I do believe every englishman of a certain age, should be proud, and fight for his country.. But then i agree with your last point....i hated the place...but one has a duty, or should have to.
Understand that mate and it's a credit to you. My duty is to look after my family and myself. I'm not fighting for Cameron, Clegg, Miliband. I'm not fighting for them to strip down the NHS, for the perverts at the BBC. I won't fight for pampered modern footballers. When those people start doing something for me I'll give back. Until then, it's my family and myself mate.
tbh i was thinking about this last night that with all the russia stuff kicking off and a world war started what if they said one person from every family had to join up, and id do it for my family, never had any problem with the army, not my first choice for a job but probs 3rd or 4th something i wouldnt mind doing in the future maybe join the TA
**** knows but that's just not something I have to deal with, so I don't deal with it. I don't like to worry about things beyond my control.
national service exists in Finners. our neighbours lad's turn is up. the fat, lazy twat's about to get a shock to the system i'd be for standing up and being counted, it instils a bit of discopline and self-respect if nothing else.
wouldn't be happy but believe I would feel pride. And now for the controversy. How many 16-18 year old Muslim children BORN in the UK would do it? My opinion is NOT F*CKING 1. Would our country enforce it? Would they f*ck cos they are s**t scared of the racism shout.
I know there's Muslims in the Army now, very few of them mind. It would be very different should all of them join up. If you were a 16 year old, would you want and feel comfortable serving next to them, rifles in hand, when some of their young are already aware of jihad and radicalised? I ****ing wouldn't! It would be a major security risk.
I have or will never support conscription, although I would be willing to fight for my country in a war that I thought was just...
Well feel free to **** off to Syria, Congo, Libiya, Botswana, Palestine, Chad, Nigeria, Niger, Saudi Arab **** land, let's see how you get on.
