She may enjoy it, but does she enjoy it as much as pocketing hundreds of millions of pounds? Remember, she inherited this. She hasn't spent anything on it, and she didn't want it. She can sell high and make a fortune. If I wasn't into football and inherited a football club, that's sure as hell what I'd do. Wouldn't you?
If it were as simple as that, then, yes. But I'm not sure. Some of it might depend on the respect she has for her father's wishes or indeed the terms that were in place when he died. I have no idea. Also, believe it or not, money isn't always the be-all and end-all for everyone (especially when you already have a few million in the bank!).
Prend les gens pour des truffes = to take people for idiots. Reginald, is that Murray Melvin pictured in your avatar?
Katherina lives a simple life according to reports...simple for a billionaire anyway How much money do you need? Business folk do it for pleasure...not for the money after a certain point...is she even interested in business. None of us know...she could write detective novels for all we know. Her father cared for Saints...can't see why she would sell unless it was unprofitable or took up too much of her time. She probably wants to be like her father...not involved, but just turn up on matchdays.
That's exactly the sort of speculation I was talking about before. Maybe things would have gone pear-shaped anyway and maybe they wouldn't. It's unlikely we'll ever know. What we DO know is that Katharina's actions precipitated Cortese's departure and the board she has appointed in his place have not so far handled the situation she created very well. Firstly I'm not painting the man as a hero. I'm criticising Katharina (and to a lesser extent the current board) and saying this situation is largely of her making. Yes, Cortese made a choice but he was put into the situation where he had to make a choice by Katharina. I think most people on here would have guessed Cortese wouldn't accept a lesser role (and Pochettino had publicly said there was no point him staying if Cortese left) so she should have been fully prepared for what could happen if Cortese walked. Clearly she wasn't and clearly the board she has appointed have struggled to handle the situation. I'm not convinced that great men do always sacrifice for the greater good but if you think Cortese didn't made sacrifices over his time in charge (time away from his family apart from anything else) you're crazy. He said as much himself when he spoke to the BBC.
That's kind of my point. If she was to take the view that we're not getting any higher than 8th, then she would consider it to have peaked in terms of value. If it goes downhill from here (and let's be honest, it's going to at least for a bit), you sell before the value drops, don't you?
You think she didn't want anything to do with Saints, you do not know that as a fact. Maybe she fell in love with us? But who really knows apart from Kat and people close to Kat.
THis google image search accurately sums up my feelings about all the back and forth and up and down that will go on between folks this season as we don't know anything for certain. https://www.google.com.kw/search?q=...ia1AXcnIC4BA&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=643
Kat, Cortese, Poch, Players, Board, Agents, FFP. Everyone has contributed to the fiasco in some way or another. No-one is without some kind of blame.
It's a pretty safe assumption. She didn't buy it. She took a backseat and did nothing, not showing up for games or anything, for a long time. We didn't even know what she looked like until a few months ago. I think it's a bit idealistic to suggest she fell in love with the club. It's a business. She is a businesswoman.
The thing about being seriously rich is that it frees you from making decisions based solely on money. If you accept she's a businesswoman, then you can expect her to be pragmatic and think only of the bottom line. However, if you say she isn't a business woman and just inherited stuff, she is free to act on a whim. I think the answer is in between, she is no fool having been brought up at her father's knee, but she is rich enough not to make money her God. So whilst I might sell a club I inherited, it doesn't follow that she would.

Okay Joe, let's have a ballpark prediction. Then we can see later on how much you get to gloat! 1. When do you think the club gets sold? If it isn't sold this year do you think that idea is off the table? 2. When do we get some sort of official announcement?
You obviously didn't see the separate thread for this subject, but thanks a million for your interest. By the way, no one can find anything that Tim Pearson has ever published, so it doesn't look too reliable.
One of Kats wishes was for NC to remain, by all accounts it was he that walked away because he no longer had total control.
I don't really think it falls under the definition of "making money your God" by selling something you never aspired to own for £150m or whatever number it is. That's a big number even for her. Sure, the possibility exists that she's decided she might as well have some fun with it, or that she'd like to improve her profile as a businesswoman by running a business in the spotlight, but really, it's something that's going to take up a lot of her time and probably won't earn her any more money, so she'd have to be really into it.
Remain in a different role, yeah. Kind of rubbishes the theory that he was running us into the ground financially as well, doesn't it.
