    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...hampton-ask-fans-to-renew-season-tickets.html

Piece in Sun about Saints calling previous ST holders asking why they haven't renewed. I have two views of this: obviously embarrassing this has to be done, but also just part of pushing sales. Pity the poor little sods who are doing it...they will be held responsible for everything wrong at the club, whilst being unable to give any opinions. Be interesting if it is effective.

There will be people with real reasons for stopping, for example I stopped years ago because I began to work Saturdays, but obviously there must be an unprecedented fall off this season. People will start to attend if results look good...once again, over to you, Ron.

They did it to me a little while back. They were very friendly and understood my reasons, but still.

    Its called business...

Maybe people havent renewed yet, maybe they dont know about the direct debit thing(if it still exists)

They couldnt fill the stadium last season, dispite the fact we did so well and beat so many top teams?

Its expensive and so many people are streaming now.

Cant the Sun and the rest of the press stop being so negative about us... We must have more negative articles that any other club currently.

Come on Ron! Cant wait for the new season!!!!

As far as the red tops are concerned, it is 'kick Saints week'. They will move on to new victims soon enough.

Whilst this has obviously been used as an opportunist piece by the Sun and my initial reaction to cold calls such as this is a "Mind your own business". It is important as a business and as a club to get the views of your customer/fans. The positive Krueger spin is to say, we care about our supporters even if they're not attending the stadium regularly.
I'm sure they'll be a broad number of reasons, but as long as everyone says "Too Expensive" then who knows. Maybe prices will reduce? <laugh><laugh>

    Cold calls?

It's hardly cold if you were a customer and have them your details. I'd say it is both good customer service and sensible. It is just as important to understand why your customers are leaving, than it is to take their money.

For some people, they have decided this board won't get anything correct and those people need to put a little bit of flexibility in to their necks and stop being so belligerent.

A very balanced article from the old Current Bun.

They're right to say it's a daft question, but it's still one that has to be asked. Any business wants to know what, if anything, it has to do to lure it's customers back.

Reminds me of Sky. Dozens of ways to sign up, all very easy and convenient. Want to leave? Prepare for a long, tedious conversation about all the possible ways you can stay as a subscriber.

I don't have a problem with it...they find out the reasons for nonrenewal (good research) or some renew because they need chivvying or they feel positive about not being overlooked. I remember years ago during the Dell days I bought a lot of tickets...the Box Office then phoned me up and told me that with the number I had bought, it would be cheaper to buy a half-season ticket, so I swapped over and saved money. I felt good because I felt like a human being and not a number.

... and the sweet/sexy Scottish lady who asks if she can call you by your fist name and then within 15 minutes and you signed up for another two years.... well she did me anyway :)

Ha. No doubt. Last time I cancelled it was because I was moving to an area where dishes were banned so thankfully renewing wasn't an option. Still took ages to get them off the phone.

I think you've managed to come up with a new definition of soon enough there.

No tears, plus it was a genuine reason as have a wedding to pay for. Mind you when I said I will still be there as I won a ST he was a bit miffed. His words were 'you'll still support the club' at the time I did say 'no I am off to support Liverpool' with my Southampton ST. <doh>

Actually, thinking back, they called me just after the official renewal window closed to tell me they were extending it for people - suggests they got a lot of non-renewals to me.
