It's funny how the larger clubs tend to belittle Saints yet , as an aggregate, we have probably had the best collection of British players within our ranks since Man Utd's Class of '92. (Walcott, Oxlade Chamberlain, Bale, Lallana, Lambert, Shaw, Ward- Prowse, Chambers, etc, etc.) had we kept these players together, we would have provided most of the England team. Next season watch our for Matt Targett and Harrison Reed - the latter already drawing comparisons to Paul Scholes and apparently being monitored by Man utd.
How many players have Spurs or Arsenal developed? Wouldn't mind arguing that Wenger had probably ruined more English players than he has brought on. Walcott hasn't achieved what most Saints fans would have anticipated when we sold him.
Who's belittling Southampton? We all know you've got good players but I think most are saying that your players are going for a lot of money considering what they've achieved so far. £16mill for Chambers is probably the most crazy, he's only played about 20 games!
No one doubts that Southampton's academy has produced a lot good players in recent years but, no offence, they leave before they've even had a chance to flop so you can blame Wenger and other managers if they don't turn out as you expect but there's nothing to prove that they'd have done better if they'd stayed.
So we're going to sell him for the same price we bought him for? £27 mill for Schneiderlin, £20mill for Rodriguez.
