Slight worry is that there are 3 Prem games before September 1st, which seems to be the date the club is working to with signings. Although if we do bring in players near the end of the window, the next game after that isn't until Saturday 13th Sept, so gives any new players nearly 2 weeks to train with their new teammates.
Difference is that statements were straightforward rather than generalisations. There was nothing after the JRod/Spider statement to suggest we accept the right price or do what was best for Southampton. And also clear all the money was being reinvested in players (prices and wages). Wouldn't say that if the accounts would show differently within the year. We may be back in the market in January...should have some shekels left.
Don't know what to believe just now but I have to hope what he says is true - we will all know soon enough. What he has said does at least match 1 of the 7 scenarios I have considered
I'm happy, but then again I always am about Saints as the new season gets closer. If we now make some good signings to replace the players who ****ed off to pastures new, add a bit more depth, continue to bring the youngsters through and do indeed keep JRod and Morgan, I'll consider this a good window and a positive step forward. I never believed that the players who have gone were the best we could have had in those positions if we went to the transfer market and with the huge amounts raised in the sales, we could buy some real quality. In six months time, we might be saying Adam who?
It would be great for Morgan and Jay to stay but I'm not going to be surprised if they are off next summer or even in January.
Morgan has been told that he is staying for now. He might well be off in January if the reconstituted team has performed well and the right offer comes in, though. Overall, calmer than yesterday.
