Lest we all forget even if all of the above leave, our team is still pretty strong! Boruc Clyne Fonte (yoshida) (targett) Wanyama Cork Davis Tadic Pelle (Jwp/Mayuka) Ok we need to strengthen in those bracketed 3 but is that team so terrible? And that is a worst case scenario where we dont buy ANY players... Surely that team is still better than at least Burnley and Sunderland and probably some of the others! Keep The faith! Its not even august yet! COYR!!!
Ok scratch jwp i forgot gaston Subs (Davis) Hooiveld JWP Reed Mayuka/Sharp Gallagher Again not brilliant but as good as some other teams...
Luckily, we'll be bringing in several more players, because the team you've posted would struggle to break 20 points. I mean, you're a couple injuries from having a front three of Sharp/Mayuka/Isgrove...
Pretty sure that would be the worst bench in the league, probably by some margin. Only one of them is Premier League standard right now.
So much pessimistic bs. The team posted, with gaston, is decent. It would get much more than 20 points. If and when injuries struck we'd be in trouble, but the team itself is good. We're in danger f turning into the world's most miserable fan base...
If anyone is worried about relegation - and I really don't think you need to be, certainly not as at 28 July 2014 any way - then all you need to do is look at the Palace squad which survived last season. Even that squad is good enough to survive.
There's no reliable goalscoring...it's Pelle and, well, Pelle, and he's rather unproven at this level. Again: we're hopefully getting in 6+ players to fill the many holes, but if you're debating between starting Mayuka, Isgrove or JWP as a wide forward, your team is in need of a few upgrades.
Anyone who is worried about relegation has a bloody good reason to be so. No team in EPL history has lost this many key personnel over such a short period of time, it really is unprecedented. I like a lot of the boys we have left, I also rate quite a few of them highly, but mark my words, we are going to be in a relegation battle. Just hope we don't need anything from our last game of the season. Gulp.
Anyone who thinks we're too good for the drop is naive in my view. I think people underestimate how far our team spirit/togetherness got us. The problem isn't jus the squad, say we sign 4/5 players, we then have to get them to gel/forge an understanding (paticuarly in defence) and this will have to happen during our 'winnable' games at the beginning of the season. If we get off to a bad start then I think we're in for a long season. By the way I'm not saying we will go down, espescially in July, but people who think that we're too good to go down are quite frankly deluded.
As we experienced last season, doing well (surviving) in the EPL is all about the squad not the first team...now draw up the list of the 25 man (& boy) squad and see if you think it is anywhere near good enough. Simple: NOooooooooooooo
Especially considering assuming every signing will be a hit is ridiculously naive. A significant percentage of new signings bust, and it can't help if they're rammed into a team full of other new players.
Exactly Dan! Generally in all walks of life recruitment is 50-50 so even if we sign another 4, not all 6 are gonna work out. Infact let's rate our signings since we got back to Prem: Jay - success Clyne - success Gaston - would be harsh to call a failure but most definitely wouldn't call a success. Forren - failure Osvaldo - failure Lovren - success Victor - probably more of a success despite what some think So thats 4/7 ? But 1 of these (jay) took a while to get going n Victor still hasnt convinced everyone. Sure i've missed some but not sure who ?
