How would you feel if we started the season with exactly the same squad? Nobody leaving and nobody coming in? There does seem a big panic about lack of transfers but remember how well the side did especially in the latter part of the season even with injuries. So do you have faith in the current squad to be able to challenge in the championship?
I think we can compete with no additions, but I do think we need a few just to be certain I would be annoyed I think
If we had no ins or outs then I'd still be expecting to challenge for the playoffs but not convinced we would make it. Probably be nearer mid-table.
If we hold on to AOC we can compete in the Championship, certainly finish top half anyway. If we want to go for promotion we will have to strengthen in a couple of areas, CB and CM particularly.
replacing jaidi is a must, i dont feel he would be good enough to start every game in the championship, nor seaborne. martin should go out on loan to get experience , and i feel a new CB and CM is a must. mid table with the squad with now, with a few additions i can see us getting playoffs
I think the squad we have if kept together would be fine in that league... And i wouldnt be too bothered!! But... I personally think we need a Pacey striker as pace comes in to it alot more in the CCC than it ever did at piss poor pitches
I think a centre back is an area we do have to address Fonte needs a reliable partner as Jedi won't manage to play every game. I think were ok for the midfield currently and an added striker would be nice but not essential. If any of the so called rumours and reports are true we only seem interested in strikers??
I would be fine with keeping the current squad if that is what the situation required/Nigel wanted. I think the current squad would stay up relatively comfortable, but there is no way we could realistically be expecting to challenge for promotion.
Well I hope your right, However I prefer not to expect anything now so I can't be let down!! I am quite annoyed at myself for posting a negative comment regarding transfers. At the end of the day we support a team that's just won promotion and is back playing against our fishy friends twice a year!
Blimey, there's confidence for you! Dont tell me, you know a man who know's a man whose mate cleans NA's toilets?
Sticking to answering the question: If there we no major transfers; be they in or out, I would expect us to finish around mid-table (say 10th to 13th). above this would be a nice bonus. On the point of panicking about transfers - I am pretty sure the club is not in any panic - there are weeks yet to look at either back-up to first team players or new players to compete for first team places. As written on this and other threads; we are looking at 2-3 players that would be needed to bolster the squad and not necessarily are we looking for players in starting positions. So there should be no panick.... is anybody listening???
It's the 27th of June. Players don't come back for another week yet. First game isn't until 6th August. Transfer deadline is 31st August. Loan transfer deadline is sometime in late Nov or early Dec. Just spelling these facts out. Hypotheticals are not really worth getting into.
