I find this article reassuring. It seems to come from the club and it lists all the positions we know need filling. Club and fans on same wavelength shocker.
 
Just seen Celtic are posting photos from Hamburg airport. There's no sign of van Dijk...


Although he could just, y'know, not be in the photos. Will keep an eye on their accounts for any Forster/van Dijk images.

The thing is that there are now greatly diminishing returns to selling any further players. It's pretty well accepted that we have money enough already to cover all the players we're likely to be buying...there's little point in selling now so that we can bank cash for an ill-defined later date in January or next season, especially as his value isn't likely to crater.

I hope so. If we lose Lovren (as is looking likely) then that would be 5 players who were regularly in the matchday squad last season who have left (Shaw, Lambert, Lallana, Lovren and Guly). We were all moaning about lack of depth last season, so to replace 4 crucial players and 1 fringe player with 7, 1 who looks likely to be a keeper, seems a little light imo.

Guly a fringe player is pushing it. I'm sure one of the youngsters will step into his fringe position. We've replaced two of the four. A few more signings in key positions and we will have a bit more depth. Just hope the team don't take too long to gel.

Well he was wasn't he? Must've been on the bench for majority of league games (don't have and cba to find the actual number), so this makes him a fringe player at least I would say. Agree about a youth player potentially stepping up to fill that gap, but would still think that about 9 new players should be around the figure we should be looking at. We already have 2 and something like 1xGK, 2xCB/LB, 2xW, 1xAM and 1xST. Maybe throw in a new CM aswell if Morgan leaves, but I really like the look of Reed and JWP, so I think we could get by with them and see how we feel next summer.

Why do people use dramatic words like "ripped apart" - genuine question?

4 first teamers have left because they wanted to leave Saints, and we've banked some large sums.

It's not ideal but better out than in, if they don't want to be part of it.
