If I'm ever dictator of Southampton FC (and I fully intend to be), I will introduce a "one signing a day" policy to keep the fans sated.
It won't be enough. If you haven't signed anyone by 4.00pm, rivers of urine will flow into the Solent.
I'll make all my signings before lunch. I don't tend to do much work after lunch. A signing a day keeps the pitchforks away.
Our nervousness is nothing compared to the panic on the Sunderland board http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/270293-Panic-stations!!!
The word you are looking for is "ideal" not "vital". We won't lose the season in the first two months.
Come end of the transfer window we will have a more than competitive squad for the season, they will get another couple of players in,I would imagine that the whole process is more elongated than we really know. In The Ron we trust.
I never worry, life's too short. Plus I love seeing new players coming in....football is so unpredictable anyway, team rebuilds just make it more so. I've probably said it before, but I would hate to be a supporter of one of the big clubs, whose only disappointments are usually that they only won one cup, or beat someone 3-0 but felt they should have scored more. Every victory by Saints is special to me, and I've really enjoyed some hard fought draws. Promotions have been brilliant, the JPT was amazing, and these are both examples of something a team like Arsenal have never experienced. I don't believe last season's FA cup win got the fans half the enjoyment the JPT did for us. I never expect Saints to be spectacular so won't be too shocked if we're not, and I understand that personnel will change over time, but I will never ever lose sleep over it. We're in the market to buy now, and I'm sure we will get quality replacements in We've lost some players, and may lose some more, but we'll have a squad by mid August and then the football will start so people are welcome to be worried but I find it illogical behaviour as we only rarely know what is likely to happen, and can't change it anyway. I think we will be just as good as last year, but if we're a bit worse, then I'll probably get better odds when I do bet on a Saints win so silver linings and all that.
Me neither. I like your "until next time", which fills me with renewed optimism and a feeling something soon on the horizon.
I've come to the conclusion that DTLW packs his posts with (sometimes almost unnoticeable) clues about new signings etc. Thankfully I can't be bothered to trawl through all his posts and do a 3-2-1 style analysis of them.
There were numerous press articles at the start of the year after Cortese's departure suggesting our best players/manager would be sold/leave/meltdown or any other adjective you wish to put on it. If any poster had come on this board in January agreeing with the authenticity of these articles they would of got hammered for being negative and told to stop bed wetting. Maybe warranted but would of been wrong, even though most of our stars were on long term contracts, habitually kissed the badge, Twitter love Ins etc. Lambasted even though we fast forward 6 months with these journalists articles proving to be pretty much on the mark. By the same posters who are of the opinion that no Saints fan should be concerned, even though the heart and core of our team looks like it will be ripped apart. Those posters need to get their heads out their arse and be less condescending to fellow Saints fans understandably expressing concern. Personally I am concerned, gutted (disgusted by certain players behaviour) that these journalist claims that our best players/manager would be sold/leave have come to fruition and still appears to be on going. Its left a big hole in our squad and possibly dented morale and anybody who thinks that's an easy fix is deluded. Combined with that we have a new manager who has a big challenge, bigger than he probably envisaged but hopefully he can stabilise us in the upcoming season.
No, I was one of those who didn't think that there would be a many leaving and was proved wrong, but I am not worried. I believe the club still has ambition. The new manager and signings so far evidence that. The people who got a reaction were those who stated that the players were off and that the owner would pocket the proceeds and flog us off before we tumbled down the divisions. If a player wants to go, after all the badge kissing then it's best they go. But so what if we can buy as good if not better, for less? If you take a longer term view then pre-Christmas might be a bumpy ride, but longer term I am still shod in sandals.
Me and DTLW(and SaintJoey but not as much as he isn't a reg) were getting moaned at for saying players were leaving months ago. As I said before tho if you are willing to post something you have to be willing to have people disagree or have a go. I don't mind people being worried, it's when they say the same thing over and over again that annoys me.
There is, we are in the market for good players. We are getting rid of the twats that bitched when they didn't get their own way.
Have no problem with posts being disagreed with as I'm sure my post above will be. But with the close season upheaval we're encountering surely you must see it will cause supporters to be concerned. Can't understand though posters on here who have expressed concern are made out to be melodramatic.
