Pictures now emerging showing Fabio Borini boarding Liverpool's plane for Boston. #SAFC had previously been told he would not be travelling.

This is a worrying turn of events from the Northern Echo reporter Scott Wilson.

Maybe the lad is playing a waiting game. He knows we want him and by all accounts he enjoyed his time here but weve got to think of things from his point of view.

He's 23 his next move will probably be the most important of his career and can we really blame him for stalling on a move to a team who for the last 5 years has largely been embroiled in a relegation battle. He may want time to properly weigh up his options and may be holding out for a potential move to a more lucrative team. Can we blame him for this? I don't think so. He may still end up coming here or he may not. A lot of fans probably think he owes us for giving him a proper chance last season but we all know there are only very few players who are generally loyal to particular clubs certainly very rarely a player from a different country who shows this loyalty. Thats football unfortunately. He put himself in the shop window last season and the lad wants to take his time to work out whats best for him and his family and I for one could not give him a hard time for that. Doesn't mean he hates us and I genuinely believe he will end up here next season and I hope he does.

Sunderland echo journo says Borini was always gonna go to USA with Liverpool, regardless if we agreed a fee or not

But why would they risk him going on the tour whilst there is £14 million at stake!? Surely Borini would need to stop in England in order to push the deal through! Maybe he is going on this tour whilst he makes up his mind???? I was led to believe that Borini would jump at the chance to play for us, even before the fee is agreed! I thought that once the fee was agreed the deal would be wrapped up quickly! Its not looking good as far as im concerned, but im still hopeful! I'd have nothing against him if he turns us down though...its his life!

Whatever happens, I think we need to assume he's not coming and start looking at plan B!!! Unless he flies back on his tod we are gonna have to wait at least 2 weeks until he comes back! Two weeks we can ill afford to sit around waiting for him to make a decision!

gutted think he'll end up in seria a somewhere now

I think I am right in saying that he would probably get more money at SAFC if he came to us rather than go to Italy so would say that Serie A would be out of the question! However I could imagine him being the type who would take a pay cut in order to get European football!

Especially when we are off to portugal next week

What worries me now is that if the deal doesnt happen then other selling clubs now know that we allegedly have at least £14 million to piss up the wall! We have certainly now shown our hand as far as finances are concerned!

Look at it from this point of view, there's a chance Remy won't take the wage cut offered which would mean they'd have to secure another target before letting Borini go. Why would Liverpool let him go without getting his replacement in first? There's a big difference between fee agreed and bid accepted. An agreement can contain conditions like you can't have him until we have cover. The fee is agreed, the bid will be in and I'm confident Liverpool will formally accept the bid once they have their man, if I were Rodgers I'd rather have him carrying out a full preseason in the event that Liverpool can't land their targets rather than wrap him in cotton wool, I'd also want to be driving Remy's wages down as well which would become a lot harder if Borini left the club. In the meantime Borini can agree terms from anywhere in the world. Gus said they'd be talking in a few days which coincidently coincides with giving the lad time to travel and rest. He can carry out a medical the day he's unveiled. I still think it's on mesel.

What if. . .Where is Ellis short at the moment?? Is he in the USA? Could he be going over there and having a medical in America, clutching at straws or what :p

Is there not a flight back to Britain for another two weeks?

Good point!

Borini is under contract by l'pool therefore has to do what they say

L'pool have also got a known history of doing this with Carroll/Adam/Aquilani etc etc.

Wouldnt read too much into it at all
